In my humble opinion (of 40+ years of diving and underwater photography) Canon could have done a lot better by designing areal pressure-resistant camera around better specs. Canon could've well kept the design and shape of the D10.

Canon Powershot D20

The Canon Powershot D20 is a rugged camera designed for use in extreme environments. Its waterproof build can be submerged to depth of 10m, withstand drops of 1.5m and be taken outside down to -10C. Needless to say, this camera can handle any type of weather.

Low image-noise until ISO 400; Nicely saturated colors; Generally responsive; Good stabilization; Quick optical zoom; Sharp MF-Assist view; Excellent LCD visibility; Excellent rugged construction; Quick shutter-lag; Good battery-life for GPS-enabled camera; Easy to press buttons

Softness at all ISO; strong past ISO 400; Unusable ISO 1600; Narrow dynamic-range; Some over-exposure; Poor AWB in low-light; Very slow autofocus; Shutter-release too soft; Impossible to setup video framing; Lens too easy to block; Wrist-strap attaches to wrong side; 2?s Video delay

Canon PowerShot D20

For anyone keeping track of Canon's waterproof camera range, you'll realise that it has been quite a while since the company's first model, the D10 , made its debut. Since then, many other companies have made inroads into the space, delivering models with snappy performance and decent image quality,...

Very easy to use; Big buttons are ideal for underwater; Tough and rugged design

Images look rather soft; Videos are grainy; Sluggish performance

Canon PowerShot D20

The Canon PowerShot D20 is one of the better waterproof cameras we've tested, featuring a rugged, element-defying design. Its 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and 28-140mm zoom lens deliver good quality still and video images, but not good enough that you'll be mistaking the Canon D20 for an...

Curvy and comfortable to hold; 28-140mm zoom lens; the Canon D20 has a solid zoom range; Large 3-inch LCD display perfect for outdoor viewing; even in bright sunlight; Simple; easy menu navigation; Diverse array of shooting modes; filters and effects -- including; appropriately; Fisheye; Manual

A little awkward to operate one-handed; Bigger than most other waterproof cameras in its class (though this could be also seen as a positive; depending on what you're looking for; No in-camera panorama mode; Power-up; shutter lag and shot recycle times at best average; Chromatic aberration and

Canon PowerShot D20 Digital Camera Review

By our count, there are no less than 15 new waterproof cameras in the 2012 model year. We've never seen the pool so crowded before. The industry is counting on these adventure-ready cameras to close the sales gap left where cheap point-and-shoots used to be.

Nice outdoor photos; Waterproof and drop-proof design

Mediocre lens hurts image quality; Feature set is relatively sparse

After a few years of waiting, Canon has finally released its next lifeproof camera, the PowerShot D20. Features like a 12.1-Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS imaging sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, Intelligent IS optical image stabilization, 5x optical zoom lens, built-in GPS and full 1080p HD video...

Smart Auto shooting mode is accurate and easy in all situations; detects up to 58 scenes; Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record; "Tough" features: Waterproof; Dustproof; Shockproof and Freezeproof protect the camera; Solid built feels sturdy; Excellent image quality; Intelligent...

Using the GPS shortens the battery life considerably; Battery Life is less than 300 images; not very much for an adventurous trip; Screen can be hard to see underwater at certain angles; Placement of the Playback button is odd; and caused confusion when shooting

[REVIEW-CANON POWERSHOT D20]

This 12 megapixel indestructible compact comes with a 28–140mm zoom and is a successor to the D10. Canon have replaced the weird but attractive body form with something more conventional in shape, although it still has some inexplicable curves and dents.

Canon PowerShot D20 Review: Tough Camera, Weak Performance

Last month we tested the best rugged, waterproof cameras and picked a winner. "But what about the new Canon?" everyone screamed. Fear not. The PowerShot D20 went through some cruel testing over the past couple of weeks. Could it live up? Could it live, period?

Canon PowerShot D20

After 3 years, Canon have updated their waterproof camera, the D10. Now, the PowerShot D20 comes with a larger 5x optical zoom, the same 12 megapixel resolution and a slimmer, squarer body. The sensor has new HS technology for good low light performance and there's also a 3 inch LCD screen.
