Canon PowerShot D20

The Canon PowerShot D20 ($349.99 direct) is a very tough 12-megapixel camera with a fun aqua and black design and a sharp 5x zoom lens. It can go as deep as 33 feet underwater, survive drops up to five feet, and operate in temperatures as low as 14°F.

Large, even for a rugged camera; So-so speeds.

Canon Powershot D20

If you need a camera that is tough enough to withstand the odd knock, and can do a job underwater the Powershot D20 does a fantastic job for the price, otherwise you're better off looking elsewhere.

D20 vs D10 - A Solid Upgrade

Comparing the D10 and D20: I've owned the Powershot D10 for years and loved it, so after reading reviews I tried the D20. The LCD is nicer and the video is 1080p - these are great upgrades. I don't care about GPS and some of the other new features.

Good image quality (same resolution as the D10 but shots from the D20 look a bit better in color/contrast) Great LCD screen (brighter and higher resolution) Underwater abilities (still great as with the D10) HD video (HUGE improvement) Dedicated video button (for me this is big; now I can switch...

Struggles with action shots (same as D10) Poor results in low light conditions (same as D10) Door opening levers feel lower quality and are harder to use than the D10 was LCD screen gained 3 scratches rather quickly - though I wouldn't say it is any more scratch prone than the D10 was Shape - for...

Great for a rugged camera

The Powershot D20 is a little larger than you might think by looking at the picture. However, it is sturdy and well built and feels like it could take some knocks (obviously since it's a rugged camera). The camera works just any other of Canon's point and shoots.

Designed for the next generation

At last I got hold of a digital camera that is both water resistant and temperature resistant. Unbelievable yet true the PowerShot D20 from Canon is an adventureru2019s delight. Now I can take underwater images using my PowerShot as the camera is water resistant upto 33 feet.

Canon PowerShot D20

The D20 is the easiest waterproof camera to use, thanks to its array of chunky buttons and simple user interface. It delivers decent photos for web use, if all you want to do is point and shoot.

Very easy to use; Big buttons are ideal for underwater; Tough and rugged design

Images look rather soft; Videos are grainy; Sluggish performance

Canon PowerShot D20 Review: Tough Camera, Weak Performance

Last month we tested the best rugged, waterproof cameras and picked a winner. "But what about the new Canon?" everyone screamed. Fear not. The PowerShot D20 went through some cruel testing over the past couple of weeks. Could it live up? Could it live, period?

Great in and out of the water

Our family now has two of the Canon D20 cameras, one for each teenager. We were living in Hawaii and loved taking photos of our excursions. I have an Olympus Stylus Tough 1030, but I've had problems with water leaking in and poor picture quality as it aged.

Waterproof and all weather

No lens protection and time delay between photos
