Canon EOS T5i review: This entry-level DSLR is particularly great for video

Adjustable swing-out display has touchscreen for easily navigating shooting options, even in sunlight. But the Live View focus, flash cycling, and general navigation feel sluggish by comparison.

Display swings out for capturing a variety of angles; Great image quality

Live View focus seems sluggish; Some physical controls are awkward to navigate

Canon EOS 700D Review

Sitting at the top of Canon's consumer range of DSLR cameras, the EOS 700D is an upgrade to the EOS 650D. The notable improvements include sturdier build, redesigned mode dial, preview for creative filters and higher Live View refresh rate.

The entry-level DSLR market is under continual pressure from large sensor mirrorless models, the best of which offer equivalent image quality in a smaller package. And for many novices with smartphone experience, the ability to easily capture video, as well as manipulate a device via a touchscreen...

Comprehensive touchscreen interface that is intuitive and efficient; High image quality with good balance between detail and noise reduction in JPEG output; Good subject tracking AF in viewfinder shooting mode (compared to mirrorless competition; 5 fps with ample buffering in JPEG-only mode; Very...

Slow 'hybrid AF' performance in live view and video modes (compared to mirrorless competition; Slightly higher noise levels than its peers; Default dynamic range lags a bit behind its peers; Using flash with Auto ISO enabled results in ISO 400 even in bright light conditions; Cannot configure common...

Thought the T4i was what I needed, but the T5i is where it's at

This is an excellent camera. It was very easy to set up, especially with the touch screen. For example each setting would flash a brief description of how it worked. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the SLR range of camera.

Touch screen; HD video

Canon EOS Rebel is great!

The Canon EOS Rebel T5i digital camera is one of the best cameras I have ever used. It is easy to operate the camera and download the pictures. The images captured are top notch quality and I have won several photography awards using this camera.

Easy to operate; Quality images

A little bit pricey

When I bought this camera I did not understand what is so great about this camera When I bought 50 mm F 1.8 the camera was used much much much better. The kit lens is not good in my perspective, And prime lenses are usually much better! Glass is the most important thing!

Canon EOS 700D

Canon's triple-digit DSLR range has long been one of the most popular series of affordable DSLRs. The Canon EOS 700D arrives as a replacement to the EOS 650D , hitting a £650 price tag at launch.

Impressive noise control; Good video capture; Responsive touch screen; Lightweight body

Limited AF points and buffer hamper action performance; Body can feel a touch plasticky; Not a big upgrade from 650D

Canon EOS 700D review

The Canon EOS 700D isn't a major step up from the 650D, but it's definitely a very good camera. It's capable of capturing high quality images, it's relatively easy to use and it doesn't feel heavy in the hand, especially with the 18-55mm STM kit lens attached.

Canon EOS 700D review and sample images

If you're looking for a simple digital SLR camera, perhaps even your first digital SLR camera, Canon's EOS 700D is ideal. It comes in a relatively small size, it has an easy control scheme, and it will allow you to take impressive photos from the get-go.

Relatively light and compact; Great overall image quality; Good overall speed

Changing exposure can be a little cumbersome; No clear differentiators between the 650D and 700D

Canon EOS 700D

The picture quality is absolutely amazing and this camera comes with an additional lens, for me a perfect camera at good price.
