Canon EOS T5i review: This entry-level DSLR is particularly great for video

Adjustable swing-out display has touchscreen for easily navigating shooting options, even in sunlight. But the Live View focus, flash cycling, and general navigation feel sluggish by comparison.

Display swings out for capturing a variety of angles; Great image quality

Live View focus seems sluggish; Some physical controls are awkward to navigate

And Canon's Rebel cameras have been strong contenders for several years, offering quite a few different models, ranging from the original Digital Rebel back in 2003 to the Rebel T1i in 2009 to last year's Rebel T4i . Now Canon has released the EOS Rebel T5i, purportedly as an upgrade to the T4i.

Image quality is very high; Extremely fast performance in Viewfinder mode; Very fast start-up; Articulated; high-resolution LCD is nice feature for shooting with a tripod; Touchscreen LCD makes it easy to control camera for beginners; Ports included for both HDMI and microphone; Full HD video output...

Not enough improvements from Rebel T4i; Autofocus works too slowly in Live View mode; creating significant shutter lag; Although autofocus in video mode is improved from past Rebels; it's still slow; Autofocus illuminator lamp only works when the flash is engaged; Camera's on-screen menus should...

In the D-SLR world, the EOS 700D is the closest thing there is to royalty. It can trace its lineage all the way back to the EOS 300D, the first D-SLR specifically designed for consumer-level shooters and the camera that finally kick-started the category.

Canon EOS 700D review

Our new favourite DSLR, even if it does look a lot like our old favourite DSLR

Takes fantastic photos; Flip-out touchscreen; New video-friendly kit lens

Only minor upgrade over 650D; Not the very best autofocus in class; Live View is still too slow

Worth the money!!

I was given the T5i as a gift from my family. I chose the T5i because of the features, such as the lenses and the adjustable shutter speeds. I am beyond impressed with the camera and the options that this camera has and can do. This camera is light and easy to use.

The new Canon 700D replaces the 650D as Canon's latest enthusiast DSLR. The differences between the two cameras are extremely subtle, though the 700D is available with a brand new 18-55mm IS STM kit lens that boasts very fast, silent autofocus, extremely smooth manual focusing and no external moving...

Camera Test: Canon EOS Rebel T5i

Canon's latest flagship Rebel remains as a great choice for an entry-level DSLR. Compare it with Nikon's D3200, and you'll face a choice between the Nikon's greater resolution (2710 at ISO 100) and higher noise (Unacceptable noise levels by ISO 3200) and the Canon's lower resolution, lower noise,...
