This makes the Canon EOS 6D a more versatile, customisable option than the Canon EOS 60D for sports photographers – although the maximum continuous shooting rate is only 4.5fps. There's an interesting option in the Playback menu that enables you to create a photobook direct from the camera.

Enthusiast-centric controls Remote control via Wi-Fi GPS technology High image quality

No flash Lacks some connections 97% viewfinder coverage Limited viewfinder overlay

Canon EOS 6D

In some respects, it's hard to tell who Canon's targeting with the EOS 6D, its "budget" full-frame camera. It's got some fairly consumer-y features and specifications. GPS? Check. Built-in Wi-Fi? Check. Single SD card slot? Check. Viewfinder with less than 100 percent coverage? Check.

The Canon EOS 6D delivers the photo and video quality you expect from a full-frame sensor; in a well-designed and relatively lightweight body

While the camera has nice extra features; like Wi-Fi and GPS support; it's missing some basics for the price like on-camera flash; multiple card slots; and a 100 percent-coverage viewfinder

The EOS 6D is Canon's attempt to entice DSLR owners who are looking for the benefits of full frame shooting - including shallower depth of field and wider-angle lens coverage, but can't afford the EOS 5D Mark III .

Excellent detail in raw file output across ISO range; Class-leading low light focus sensitivity (from central AF point; Very effective JPEG noise reduction at highest ISO sensitivities; Impressively quiet 'silent' shutter drive mode; Quick Control menu provides easy access to shooting settings,...

JPEG engine struggles with low-contrast fine detail at low ISO sensitivities; Low density 11 point autofocus array with only one cross-type AF point; Single card slot (SD; Slow burst rate compared to its full frame peers; Cannot configure common live view and movie mode options independently; Video...

Insanely good low light performance

By now, if you're considering this camera, you know about the GPS and WiFi capabilities, so I'll skip that until the end, and talk about my experience with the 6D over the past month of use.

picture quality; ergonomics; low light performance is amazing

only up to 1/160 shutter speed sync with external strobes

Canon EOS 6D

Canon's EOS 6D is the company's first 'affordable' full frame DSLR. It's positioned above the EOS 60D (and in some respects the EOS 7D), providing a stepping stone into full-frame photography for owners of Canon's mid-range and semi-pro APS-C models.

Tough; moisture and dust resistant body; Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS; Great image quality with low noise levels; AF effective in very low light; 4.5fps continuous shooting limited by memory for JPEGs

Single SD card slot; Lacks built-in flash; 97 percent viewfinder coverage; Relatively few AF points and only one cross-type; Lacks on-demand viewfnder overlays

Well balanced packaged for a new system upgrade

This is my first Full Frame camera; in fact it's my first Canon camera. I use a different make and system, which is an APS-C format camera. I spent some time testing the 6D in the stores with along the Canon 5D Mk3 and another make.

Quiet; Nice features/settings; Quick Start-up time; Excellent image quality; Superior build quality; Bright LCD; Solid Operation; Lightweight/Portable; Simple controls/menu; Easy to use

Short battery life

Great Camera

This is a great camera and price for a full frame. Don't let the 11 autofocus points steer you away. It is great for landscape, travel, and portrait. Picture quality is amazing. Great in low light with usable pictures upto ISO 6400. Only down side is it needs EF lenses which can get expensive.

Canon EOS 6D - FULL REVIEW

After publishing a detailed First Look at Canon's entry-level 'full frame' DSLR, the EOS 6D in September last year, we have been able to review a production unit in March 2013. It was supplied with the new EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens , which is reviewed separately.
