Canon EOS T4i / 650D

The Canon EOS Rebel T4i, or EOS 650D as it's known outside North America, is the company's latest upper entry level DSLR. Announced in June 2012, it replaces the massively popular Rebel T3i / 600D which has held the upper entry-level position in the EOS line-up since its introduction in Feb 2011.

3 inch LCD capacitive touch-screen; Hybrid CMOS AF sensor with continuous AF for movies; Quiet focusing STM kit lens option; Chromatic aberration correction; 5fps continuous shooting; Multi shot noise reduction mode

Only 3-frame auto bracketing; Movie crop / digital zoom of T3i / 600D dropped; Live mode hybrid AF can be slow and unresponsive

Canon EOS 650D Review

The Canon EOS 650D is the world's first DSLR to be equipped with a touchscreen also arrives with a clever focusing system and a handful of extra features. The What Digital Camera Canon EOS 650D review investigates the extent to which their implementation has been successful

Responsive touchscreen with added bonus of touch-shooting and image reviewing; light body; consistent metering system

Auto white balance not always entirely accurate (more neutral than faithful); room for improvement with touchscreen; burst depth could be better

Canon EOS 650D Digital Camera Review

The Canon 650D is a recent release from Canon that replaces the much talked about 600D in the ever expanding Canon DSLR range. From looking at the spec sheet you may notice that there are a number of similarities between the 650D and 600D although it is more progression and refinement rather than...

I've had an old Minolta film camera in which I learn how to shoot photographs, since then I didn't have a serious camera until I bought the t4i (just a bunch of point and shoots). The first thing I noticed is the touch screen, getting to the menus and browsing photos is very easy with it.

The Canon EOS 650D - or Canon EOS Rebel T4i in the US - sits above the Canon EOS 600D/Rebel T3i in Canon's DSLR range, and has been designed for beginners and enthusiast photographers alike.

Canon EOS 650D Digital SLR Review

Video is improved thanks to stereo sound and continuous AF, although this is still generally quite slow compared to mirrorless cameras, and the noise of the lens focussing is easily picked up by the internal microphones.

Excellent noise performance up to ISO3200 and above; Live view allows 5x and 10x magnification to aid manual focus; Excellent image quality; Excellent colour reproduction; Excellent touch screen; Solid body with good handling; Playback image star ratings

Slow live view focus (compared to Sony SLT or Mirrorless; Lens focusing motor loud and picked up by microphones; Noticeable barrel and pincushion distortion with 18-135mm lens; The lens aberration correction feature slows continuous shooting

brilliant camera , great for video

You're thinking of getting the 650d, reading the reviews, comparing it to the 600d and countless others and pulling your hair out at all the pros and cons? Am I close. I'm a photographer and have used this, the 600d and its sony equivalent. I might be able to help.

However, it's worth remembering that that the 600D/Rebel T3i was priced at £679/$799 RRP body-only when it came out in April 2011, yet today it can be found for around £499/$579. It shouldn't be too long before the Canon EOS 650D street price becomes more palatable as well.
