I suggest you put duck tape over the sensor before you replace a cartridge at great expense and waste. You'll know when to replace the cartridge when the print quality suffers.
This thing eats printer cartridges and shuts it self down and will not print; After purchasing $600 of printer cartridges I discovered via an internet search that the machine has bad toner sensors.
The machine shuts down and will not print without replacing the printer cartridges due to faulty sensors; You cannot remove and replace the sensors, shake the tray, reinsert and expect to continue; This thing shuts down cold even though there is no deterioration in print quality.
Ever since it barged its way into a printer market dominated by the likes of Canon, Kodak, HP and Xerox, Brother has established a deserved reputation for producing sturdy, reliable printers with a general emphasis on speed and efficiency.
