Alan Wake review

First announced in 2005, Alan Wake is a psychological thriller five years in the making. We had our reservations, but Remedy's narrative-heavy foray has proved worth the wait.

A beautifully crafted world, stunningly presented; A cast of believable characters wrapped up in a narrative that's paced as reliably as a metronome; A fine balance of suspense and action

Some disappointing set pieces; Wake's flamboyant literary agent, Barry, occasionally goes to great lengths to remind you that he's a caricature sidekick

"Awesome"

I'm usually all about action, but once you get into this my god, it's not only the right amount of scary, it's got the right amount of fun in it too. Seemed a little short, though any longer and it might have dragged. Thoroughly enjoyed it and sad it's over.

Alan Wake

Alan Wake has been one of the most ancipated Xbox 360 titles since it was first announced at E3 way back in 2005. It's now here, delivering an intriguing plot, dramac visuals and an immersive atmosphere, yielding more to the cerebral than skiet, skop en donner.

Gripping storyline and presentation; Excellent environments

Lip-syncing sometimes on the same level as dubbed kung-fu movies from the past

Alan Wake

At the risk of making so many bad puns about Alan Wake finally stepping into the light, away from the darkness of development hell â€" given the games central theme of light and shadow â€" we have to be honest and admit that it is somewhat of a relief to finally play Alan Wake.

Alan Wake review (X360)

Alan Wake is a tale of macabre horror, subtle product placement and trees. It's a tale that fittingly starts with a Stephen King quote about how horror -- true horror -- is unexplainable before then pulling out King's favourite self-projected protagonist: the horror author being turned slowly mad...

Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot

If Borderlands was a breath of fresh air and its first piece of add-on action, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned , was too much more of the same, then Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot should be a hoot, right Due to it being quite different from the main game and all. No! A thousand times no, sir!

Alan Wake

Five years in the making is a very long time for any game and is rarely a good omen. Within half an hour it's obvious where the five years went. The world of Alan Wake, the town of Bright Falls is incredibly detailed. It's hard to convey just how much has gone in to it.
