Apple iPad (2012) Review

For the first time, the new iPad feels like the device Steve Jobs promised two years ago. This is a capable post-PC device and should usher in another great year for tablets.

Screen actually is 'Resolutionary; Great battery life; Powerful graphics processor; Responsive screen; 200,000+ optimized tablet apps; Excellent rear camera; 4G LTE capability rocks

iOS showing some age; 4G models split (AT&T or Verizon; Front-facing camera still VGA; Slightly thicker and heavier than iPad 2; No Siri

Apple iPad (2012)

was to break down the barriers between us and our content, whether it's the Web, photos, movies or games. Like any conclusion to a compelling trilogy, the third-generation iPad aims to complete that vision with a display so stunning that you nearly forget you're using a gadget.

Fantastic Retina display; Sharp 5-MP camera with 1080p video; Speedy 4G LTE data; Improved AirPlay functionality; Best tablet app selection

Bottom left side gets warm; Can't FaceTime over 4G; 50MB limit for iTunes downloads over 4G; Front camera doesn't do HD

A No Holds Barred Review of the (3rd Gen) iPad (2012)

Apple called its first iPad tablet "magical," as if owning one would turn flatulence into a flowery fragrance and unlock the mystery of double complete rainbows. Instead it entranced millions of people into buying one, even though it lacked basic amenities like expandable storage, built-in cameras,...

Stunningly gorgeous 2048x1536 Retina display; Quad-core graphics engine is really flipping fast; iOS is as slick as it ever was; Twice the amount of RAM (1GB) as before; Now supports 4G LTE (optional; Much improved iSight camera (5MP

Still no microSD card slot; HDMI output; or USB ports; FaceTime camera stinks; Slightly thicker and heavier (nitpicking here

iPad review (2012)

Apple's new iPad offers neither a massive improvement in performance nor functionality, but the new display alone makes it a great update.

Amazing display; LTE speeds; Improved camera; Comparable battery life with LTE

No 128GB option; Slightly larger and heavier

New Apple iPad

With a gorgeous ultra-high-resolution display and the widest selection of apps you can get, the new iPad is the best large-screen tablet around.

Breathtaking display; The best app selection of any tablet; Excellent 3G and 4G network compatibility

No camera settings; 4G data usage is difficult to monitor; Apps are starting to strain the processor

Apple iPad 2012 Review

The iPad has earned its reputation. While there is strong competition from the likes of Samsung and Asus, neither of these companies have (yet) been able to rival the iPad in terms of screen resolution and software experience.

+ Screen transforms the way you consume digital content

The new iPad is faster, has a better screen, better camera and now displays movies and records in full HD. To some it might not be an essential upgrade from the iPad 2, but one look at its gorgeous Retina Display will change your mind.

The new iPad's Retina Display is far ahead of any tablet out there; When it was launched, Apple claimed that text is sharper to read than on a newspaper; It's hard to disagree; Not a single pixel appears out of place.

The new iPad is around a millimetre thicker than the iPad 2, and 50g heavier; In the grand scheme of things though, this makes little difference; Slightly more pressing is that Apple is still offering the same 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, As apps become optimised for use on Apple's Retina Display, so...

When the Apple iPad entered the market, people were amazed at the technology this small device offered. No tablet could beat the technology, and most products were several steps behind Apple's tablet. With the new iPad, they made themselves even more difficult to beat.

The new iPad features the iOS 5 operating system and the dual-core A5X chip

There is no USB 2.0 port on this tablet

Apple iPad (3rd Generation) Review

The anticipation for a new gadget can often be more exciting than getting the actual product in your hands. Apple's new iPad definitely offers some nice updates with the Retina display, 4G and improved camera, but is it a worthy upgrade for someone that already has an iPad 2?

Gorgeous display; Improved camera; 4G option; Fits in most iPad 2 cases you may already have; Bluetooth 4.0 will use less power and be a lighter drain on the battery

Thicker and heavier; Runs a little warmer than the iPad 2

Apple New iPad

Apple just made the new iPad official and it comes with a Retina Display that goes up to 2048 x 1536 resolution with a pixel density of 264ppi. Apple's existing apps will be scaled up to the high-res display and will be encouraging developers to do the same

+ Retina Display; + Tried and true design; + Good Battery life

- No LTE for most of us; - No major changes; - Apple iPad; - USB Dock Connector; - Charger; - 3.5mm headphone
