A lot of information has surfaced about features that are common on both Samsung Galaxy S8+ and S8 or that are specific only to the smaller S8 model. Trusted informant EVleaks has obtained detailed information about S8+ that points to a massive 6.2-inch screen with a 2,560 x 1,440 px resolution. A lot of physical space around the edges has been reduced by extending the screen to the edges.
Samsung will likely present the new S8 models on April 25th. The larger Samsung Galaxy S8+ has potential to become a new top model. The specs leaked by Evleaks do indicate fairly modest specs for some key phone attributes. For example, the phone only comes with 4 GB RAM memory instead of 6GB or 8GB RAM that some competitors offer. Moreover, 64 GB of storage feels insufficient these days when smartphone competitors launch models with 128 GB of storage.
The rear camera on S8+ gets a resolution of 12 MP and is Dual Pixel while the front one sports 8 MP in combination with an Iris scanner.
Will Samsung use the new Exynos processor?
Samsung just released the new version of its in-house Exynos chipset. The new Exynos 9 8895 has 8 cores and boosts the performance compared to previous models. Samsung has already confirmed that it will use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 processor for Galaxy S8, but it might decide to also employ Exynos in certain geographic regions depending on Qualcomm’s supply capacity.
A pair of earphones will accompany S8 Plus similar to the iPhone’s Airpods. The earphones are “tuned by AKG“, which indicates that Samsung has involved AKG. AKG, is Harman Karmon’s subsidiary that it acquired in 2016.
