The much anticipated Surface Book is Microsoft’s first laptop. Tier-1 retailers Harvey Norman, Noel Leeming and JB-Hifi will start selling the new laptop in stores on January the 28th. The RRP price set by Microsoft’s NZ Store is $2,749 for the Core i5 processor with 8GB RAM. Retailers usually undercut the RRP by a few percent. Hence, the actual selling price in NZ will likely be somewhat lower after a while. PB Technologies currently offers the Surface Book online at $3,967 for the Core i7 model. South Korean manufacturer LG releases an upgrade to its G Pad tablet – the LG G Pad 2 8.3 (II). It will initially only be available in South Korea, and then introduced to other markets in 2016. Many of us are waiting for the Galaxy S7 which is due in March 2016. China’s largest phone carrier China Mobile accidentally leaked critical pricing information during a press conference recently. A slide in the background that displayed various phone models and pricing showed Samsung Galaxy S7 priced at 3,000 Yuan and above. This converts to around NZ$678 at today’s exchange rate. Then add 15% GST and also account for local market conditions to estimate the likely retail price in New Zealand.
