Verdict: This is a good alternative to the newer models from Zoom if you are willing to live without separate outputs to LINE and Headphones.

H2n recorder

4.5
Verdict: I have purchased one unit for my own use & three additional units for 3 sons & they are such a good & practical unit. I recommend highly. I use to record my brass quintet, practice etc. & transfer to computer, burn to disc. I previously purchased the larger units for the music faculty.

Verdict: I used the H2N for 4 months and was happy with the recording quality, it suited my needs very well. Then the display started behaving erratically. I sent the unit in for warranty repair and am still waiting 4 months later with no response from the manufacturer!

ZOOM H2N

5.0
Verdict: I was recommended getting a Tascam, but the staff were so useful and told me about the Zoom and the user friendly interface. I have been using this weekly since October 2012 and it has been so useful and extremely good quality.

Verdict: The biggest problem with this is that the software comes on a CD and my Mac laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD player because most all companies have their software downloadable on their website. Because of this I cannot mix or do anything with my recordings.
