Xiaomi 11T Pro review

The Xiaomi 11T Pro comes at a very competitive price, with a camera array, chipset and charging speed that are impressive for a mid-range phone, and it would be easy to recommend if it wasn’t for a few minor issues. The device gets hot easily, is quite big, picks up fingerprints readily on the rear, has a few too many software bugs. It’s still a worthy addition to the Mi 11 lineup, though the standard 11T is more.

Smooth and responsive to use; Cameras perform well; Incredibly fast to charge;

Rear is a fingerprint magnet; Fingerprint scanner is hard to reach; Overheating issues

Xiaomi 11T Pro review: Punchy performer

This sub-flagship brings together some strong specification in a well-performing package with a lovely screen and super-fast charging to boast about too. There are some software irks, the build is chunky and, on reflection, we think the 'non-Pro' variant is an even better buy. That said, however, this 11T Pro is more than capable of giving prospective OnePlus 9 buyers something else to seriously consider.

Super screen - fast refresh and great colour rendition; Supremely powerful (given Qualcomm Snapdragon 888) considering the price point; Impressive cameras overall; Super-fast 120W charging;

Some baffling software quirks in MIUI 12.5; The 'non-Pro' 11T is a better proposition of price to features; Battery less impressive than predecessor (largely due to 120Hz); It's rather chunky;

Xiaomi 11T Pro review

Viewed in isolation, the 11T Pro is a potent and well-priced anti-flagship with a capable camera, top-tier performance and properly fast charging. That ‘Pro’ label muddies the waters when compared to the slightly older Mi 11, though. Both phones use the same CPU and have near-identical cameras, but one gets a nicer screen and more premium build, while the other has a larger battery that charges quicker. At the time of writing, you can buy both directly from Xiaomi for £599. Honestly, while the Mi 11 remains in stock at that price, it’s the better buy. And though we’re yet to test it, the non-pro 11T looks like better value still – it uses a Mediatek CPU and only offers 67W charging, but has an otherwise identical spec sheet for £100 less. Which one is right for you will probably depend on your desire for power.

Flagship performance; Shockingly quick charging; Gorgeous screen;

Plastic not as premium as glass; No telephoto camera; Battery life could be better;

Xiaomi 11T Pro review

The Xiaomi 11T Pro is another reassuringly capable Xiaomi phone for a highly competitive price. It’s fast, has a solid main camera, a fine display, and outstandingly rapid charging for a reasonable price. However, it’s not without its shortcomings. MIUI is as busy as ever, the camera isn’t as well rounded as we would have liked, there’s no wireless charging, and the design isn’t especially appealing.

Excellent 120Hz display; Solid 108Mp camera; Blazing-fast 120W charging; Punchy Harman Kardon speakers;

Dull design compared to brothers; Ultra-wide and telephoto sensors not up to much; Weird performance glitches; MIUI still not the best;

Xiaomi 11T Pro Review: Not worthy of its Pro name

You can’t call the 11T Pro a sequel, as it’s not drastically different from the Mi 11. Even worse, there’s nothing here that makes it a Pro phone either, and that causes me to wonder why it exists. Let’s see if there’s a hidden reason. The Xiaomi 11T Pro weighs 204 grams, measures 8.8mm thick, and has a flat screen and a rear panel that looks like glass covering metal, but feels and sounds more like plastic. The addition of the “T” to the name indicates this isn’t a full sequel to the Mi 11, but a refresh, just like OnePlus once did with its own T models. However, this Pro version doesn’t look as modern as the basic, older Mi 11. The curved glass over the screen on the Mi 11 may not have had a functional element, but it did give it some character, as did the multistep camera module on the back. For the 11T Pro, that’s all gone. The rear panel has a glossy finish and an attractive brushed metal look, but it gets smudgy and sounds quite hollow. It does provide enough grip to keep it safe...

Very fast wired charging; Great performance for gaming; Feature packed camera;

No water resistance; No wireless charging;
