Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country (Switch)

In an extremely uncharacteristic move from Nintendo, Monolith Soft have come out with the Xenoblade franchise's biggest piece of DLC ever – Torna ~ The Golden Country, a standalone expansion.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country review

A fantastic standalone prequel that is held back by one really annoying design decision.

Excellent combat; Brilliant soundtrack; Memorable characters; Very good gameplay enhancements

Side quest gating is annoying; No real improvement to visuals or performance

"...Torna - The Golden Country is every bit a Xenoblade game in its own right." © 2018 Nintendo, Monolith Soft. All rights reserved.

More mature story; likeable cast; gameplay refinements; great new music; great length

Some gameplay annoyances remain; forced breaks from main story for sidequests; lip syncing is still terrible

El Dorado

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country

The icing on the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Season Pass is here. After sprinkling smaller drops of content for several months to feed the RPG that released for the Nintendo Switch a year ago, Monolith Soft. is coming full circle with the final expansion.

I feel empty inside. A must play!

Bought this with the expansion pass for the main game, and all I need to say is it is amazing. This makes the main story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 even better, and shows us how key characters got to where they are in the base game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country (Nintendo Switch) Review

Xenoblade , as a franchise, has been on a bit of a downward trajectory since its inception. The original Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii was widely considered to be one of the greatest RPGs of its generation; Xenoblade Chronicles X was met with a fair bit of backlash for its story and setting, but...

Stepping Backwards

This standalone expansion is satisfying addition for fans who have already built up a tolerance for the sometimes-baffling quirks of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
