Wonderbook: Book of Spells Review | Accio Peripherals!

Motion control and augmented reality, not necessarily a combination that you'd expect to light up folks with excitement. But instead of thinking of Wonderbook as the bastard child of gaming's novelty items, it might just be better to approach it with the open mind that suggests it could be the title...

Cracking use of AR and motion control; Potterverse is brought to life in charming fashion; Moments f magic hint at a special future for Wonderbook

But there's not enough substance; Not enough variety; Not enough freedom to ever think for yourself

PS3 Wonderbook: Book of Spells

We have to be honest, when we first clapped eyes on the new official accessory for the Sony PlayStation 3, the Wonderbook, at E3 in June we weren't immediately blown away. It is, after all, simply a 12-page hardback board book with a sequence of slightly different patterns on each leaf.

Essential for Harry Potter fans; great example of augmented reality being used in the home; high production values; great fun to play through whether child or adult

Of limited appeal to those who don't like the Potter universe; needs some room to play

Wonderbook: Book of Spells – review

Wonderbook has patterns on its cardboard pages that PlayStation's camera recognises, creating an augmented reality view on screen that shows a magical animated book with spells and stories spilling from its pages.

'Wonderbook: Book of Spells' review

Gaming and literature have always been uneasy bedfellows, but those innovative folk at Sony London have devised a way to bridge the gap between the two mediums.

Wonderbook: Book of Spells review

Wonderbook takes the Sony PlayStation into the world of Harry Potter, writes Tim Martin, and it would take a stony heart not to be thrilled by the results.

A great buy for the kids

I got this for my daughter who is nearly 3. I wanted something to help build her hand eye coordination. Parts of this game don't interest - mostly the context given to the spells you learn in game - and parts are too difficult for her.

Magic!

I've only had the chance to "test" this, as it is my daughters Christmas present, but from what I've seen so far it seems to be really good. I thought it was really cool how the Move remote is transformed into a magic wand (on screen), which really adds to the elusion that I am really a wizard...

Great family game especially for kids and Harry Potter fans using Sony's new WonderBook

Book of Spells is the first game for the new PlayStation 3 peripheral WonderBook. The game is set in the same universe as J.K Rowling's series of Harry Potter books, as the player becomes a student at the Hogwarts School and is taught all the famous spells from the books such as Lumos, Incendio and...

Wonderbook: Book of Spells (PS3) Review

Book of Spells is the first game to come out that supports Sony's Wonderbook peripheral which was first introduced at E3 this year.  Despite a demo that dragged on for too long and that was plagued by technical issues, I really warmed to the idea of Wonderbook after spending some hands on time with...
