Pretty, dependable and portable
Bought this drive based on recommendations and reviews. Great colour! Quality build. Reliable and dependable. Has been my primary external back-up drive for a number of years now.
Nothing beats WD!
My brother was an electronics engineer and retired as a project manager for big blue. He won't buy anything other than Western Digital. I have this and several internal WD drives. They are always reliable.
Fast and Reliable...
I was attempting to hold out until a portable drive with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt came out. Doubtful, at this point, that anyone would ever consider that possibility. But, circumstances changed and I required a large drive with a fast/common interface (USB 3.0).- 2TB of storage and USB 3.0
- No thunderbolt compatibility..
Review: Western Digital My Passport (2TB)
The My Passport is Western Digital's mainstream line of portable hard drives. The best performer in the roundup, it's available in 500GB to 2TB...
One of the very few 2.5" portable USB 3.0 drives in a 2TB capacity
If you're really looking for something to complain about, take umbrage with the 2 year warranty - 3 years would have been more appropriate in my opinion given the premium pricing, but considering the industry-wide HDD warranty reductions, perhaps two years of coverage should be considered generous.- The WD My Passport 2TB USB 3.0 is mostly fantastic
- Cramming 2,000 GB of storage into a portable package isn't easy, but if you're Western Digital, you have the luxury of just making a special custom drive.
- Over the past year, more and more external drives are being purchased merely to rip out the HDD inside
- That's not possible in this case due to its custom nature (the non-standard connectors on the drive etc.), so don't buy it with that purpose in mind.
good
Does what it's meant to. I had to fiddle with the reformatting for Mac and eventually got it to work on both Mac and PC. My main problem is that it only says it has a 1.82TB capacity when plugged in. I am yet to inquire further and possibly ask for a replacement.
Great product & good service
Excellent price.. unbeatable.. ever after 200rs inc (after i ordered) ;) product well packed. delivered in 3 days :) btw the free case is smaller for this pocket HDD and it doesnt fit easily (I havent tried forcing) but never mind
Highly recommended but be aware that it's not formatted for Mac and cant be used for Xbox save games
This hard drive is quite big for what it is, just a small laptop hard drive in a case but it is the latest hard drive, and there is not a bigger capacity portable USB powered hard drive out there, so it's in a market size of one really.
Excellent product, but with a small issue
I recently had a 1TB Caviar Black HD start to fail in my PC (after 6 years of heavy 24/7/365 use). I was able to clone it to a new drive, but the close call finally got me to do something about backup. I got the 2TB Passport.
Good value
I was disappointed that I had to format for the Apple Macbook and go online to find how do this as you couldn't access the instructions on the drive. This should be made clearer at the beginning.- Features As Expected
- Quick Deivery
- Bulky
- Had To Format For Macbook
- Instructions Not Easy
