Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive Review
Portable storage has always been very popular, it is nice having a hard drive that you can easily take with you anywhere on the go. Western Digital is no stranger to portable storage solutions, they have been marking portable solutions for a while now.- Sleek and small design
- Large capacity
- Included software
- Security features
- Not a fan of the micro USB 3.0 connector
Western Digital My Passport Essential USB 3.0 1TB
Western Digital's My Passport Essential USB 3.0 1TB is a perfectly serviceable drive with a decent price point. At the time of writing, however, the key reason to pick up a USB 3.0 drive at what are still early adopter prices is to get the best speed possible, and in the key area of file writing to...- Sleek design
- Includes backup and password protection software
- USB 3.0 is markedly faster than USB 2.0
- Not the quickest USB 3.0 drive available
As always, a great product by WD
Hi, I got this awesome product during thanksgiving holidays for 89.99 USD. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a high capacity Hard Drive. Its fast, gorgeous and easy to use device.- Speed
- easy to setup
- Scratches easily since it has a glossy surface
WD My Passport Essential SE 1TB
Pocket hard drives are by their nature not the most design heavy of creatures. They need to be small - to fit the pocket designation - and they need to contain hard drives. We've seen a few interesting designs built around tiny lights in drives, or interesting case colours.- Simple backup software included
- Who couldn't use 1TB of extra storage space?
- Design is bland
- Pricey compared to a couple of 500GB drives
Western Digital My Passport Elite External Hard Drive

- Indicator shows available storage space
- Software launches automatically
- Optional password protection
- Instruction manual is thorough and easy to understand
- Slightly noisy when working hard
Great portable hd
Works Great price is outstanding- quick response when coping files
- none yet
Not for viewing picture files.
This Western Digital One terabyte USB hard drive is extremely durable yet unbelievably quiet, and its read/write speed is excellent. It is compact, about the size of a wallet, is handsomely designed, and so affordable that I bought two of them.
WD My Passport Studio 640GB review
Passport is the rather apt name chosen by Western Digital for its range of portable hard drives. Not much bigger than the 2.5in notebook drives they contain, these pocket-sized storage devices are now more pocketable than ever, thanks to their extra-rounded corners – not to mention attractive...- Large capacity
- Personalised e-label display
- Three connection options: FireWire 400/800 and USB 2.0
- Straightforward software for labelling
- locking and backup
- 256-bit hardware encryption
- Only one FireWire port – no daisy-chaining
- No carry case in the box
Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB External Drive
Transfer rates stayed the same with the installation of the SmartWare software, though the user experience decreased. If you don't install it, every time you connect the drive the software will mount and ask to be installed. This was extremely annoying.
Western Digital's My Passport Essential SE is currently the only portable external hard drive to boast a whopping 1TB of storage space. Despite this, it is one of the smallest hard drives around and is quite speedy, too.
