The Western Digital My Passport is a small, portable hard drive with a huge capacity - 2TB to be precise (that's 2000GB). No larger than a standard Passport drive with dimensions of 111x82x21mm, the unit is connected via a USB 3.0 cable that's also backwards-compatible with the more common USB 2.0.

Western Digital My Passport Essential 500GB review
The My Passport Essential gives you plenty of hard drive space in a compact and lightweight device, making it much more convenient to keep your important information as close as your pocket.

Fantastic
Just got this product in the mail. I would recommend it to everyone who wants something really small and wants to store a few files. It's really small and will slide into your pocket with ease, it doesn't require additional power supply apart from the usb chord.

WD My Passport 2TB
It's the almost the same size as a passport and hence the name. Very good for the consumer who needs a lot of portable memory on the go and is willing to pay the somewhat demanding price. It's built very well and the rubber feet will stop any vibrations on any surface.

Western Digital My Passport Portable USB Drive
The company also recently released the My Passport Edge , an even slimmer drive that offers better portability. We'll review one of those as soon as we can get our hands on one.
Pros:
- Extreme portability
- No external power supplies or power cables required
- You can set up password protection and hardware encryption
Cons:
- Fast enough for everyday use
- but not the fastest.

WD My Passport Essential SE 1TB Review
The main feature of the drive apart from it being a USB 3.0 drive lies in its utility – WD SmartWare. The drive comes bundled with this utility and it allows you to password protect your data and backup important files.
Pros:
- Compact form factor
- WD SmartWare utility
Cons:
- Slow performer

WD My Passport Essential SE Review
The WD My Passport has always been very stylish – yet surprisingly small – devices and the all new refreshed version of the Essential model is no exception. While it does come in many color options, mine was the silver and white version. To be blunt, this color scheme looks like a million bucks.

Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1TB
I am so disgusted by this drive. I've used it a total of FOUR TIMES to back up data from my laptop. A few days ago, I plugged it in to do my 3-month HD backup, and it rendered my Vista OS completely unresponsive.
Pros:
- NOTHING...okay
- portable? Paper weight?
Cons:
- Stopped working altogether after FOUR USES! Total crap
- WD seems to have no idea how to fix an apparent inherent flaw in this drive

Worst thing EVER!!!
This is the 3rd hard drive from WD i have had REPLACED...these things quit like no tomorrow. As a university student, many of my much needed files have gone caput bc these things have no clue how to work. Every single one has failed. I will never buy another one again.
