Good value for money, set-up was okay. Bought mainly for macOS Time Machine back-ups and music server for playing on my multi-room Sonos set up. Does both well, cheaper than my previous Synology NAS which lasted well but I didn't use all of the feature hence went for this to save cash.

best on win 8

a little harder to use on win7 and earlier systems.. best on win 8.1 or win10... nice though, on an all hard wired network it is a handy unit and super affordable!

Worth the purchase price, but

The NAS was easy to set up and is working to do exactly what it was designed to do. Regarding the people who complained that there are no instructions included with the product, if they mean a physical manual they are correct, however WD does provide extensive online help that walks you through the...

does what it is intended to do; setup was not difficult; some 3rd party apps (dropbox and plex) work well

lack of documentation for official 3rd party apps; very limited choice of 3rd party apps; no calendar system to replace google calendar

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra 8TB NAS Review

The My Cloud EX2 Ultra -bay NAS is the latest addition to WD's My Cloud Expert series aimed at SOHO use and is an update of the previous My Cloud EX2. The biggest of these updates is the change of SoC, from a 1.2GHz Marvell Armada 370 to a Marvell Armada 385 1.3GHz.

Quick setup; My Cloud OS; Good performance; Easy access drives

No front USB ports / quick copy button; Third party app support not as deep as some of its competitors; Memory can't be upgraded; No HDMI port

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra Network Attached Storage

Because I favor a 2-bay design, I consider the WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra the standard for an entry-level NAS for both regular consumers and more hands-on types. The CPU and RAM upgrades make the Ultra an obvious upgrade over the older EX2.

If you want total control over your files and to access them from anywhere and you don't mind a fairly steep up-front cost, the My Cloud EX2 Ultra is the way to go.

The My Cloud EX2 Ultra is, effectively, a 2-bay NAS casing, an upgrade of its predecessor, the My Cloud EX2. As with the EX2, the Ultra provides remote and cloud access to your personal files. This makes for secure sharing across different devices, whether it be home or office use.

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra

The My Cloud EX2 Ultra is a NAS with room for two 3.5in hard disks, priced to compete with cheaper models from rivals such as Synology. It has strong file transfer performance, and is particularly easy to set up and configure to share files across your home network and the internet.

Quick file transfers; Easy to set up and use

Not many third-party apps; Buying with disks doesn't get you a discount

Unreliable, and slow.

Stay away from this NAS device, very unreliable, Synology offers much better and reliable NAS devices. The reviews for this NAS device seemed okay originally when I ordered it, but in the past month their server has gone down three times, and when you call them, they start talking about how you...

Nothing

Mycloud server goes down every 10 days, and you can not remotely access data, it also impacts the internal usage of the server as well at times; Very unreliable; I will never ever buy another NAS device from WD; Also very slow read/write, nothing like they have advertised
