Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

The best Final Fantasy games are often regarded for their layered characters and stories, but that will not be Final Fantasy XV's legacy. Save for a few minor arcs and some impressive cutscenes, the story of the deposed Prince Noctis and his three bodyguards ultimately leaves little room for its...

Impressive open-world that's equally beautiful and haunting; Fast and fluid combat system; Captivating monsters; Rewarding endgame challenges

Unsurprising plot; Shallow characters; Astrals are needlessly difficult to summon

However, Watch Dogs 2's recipe is in no way original, on the contrary. There's no argue that Ubisoft's game borrows a lot from Grand Theft Auto gameplay mechanics, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Great hacking mechanics; Amazing looking fictionalized version of San Francisco; Quirky and fun dialog; Major improvements over the predecessor; Solid multiplayer

Mediocre main story; Overly repetitive; Forgettable characters; Misses a lot of potential

Review: Watch Dogs 2, aka Mr Robot: The Game

Moving to San Francisco and starting afresh is the smartest thing Watch Dogs 2 could have done. Unlike dreary Chicago and bland antagonist Aiden Pearce, Marcus Holloway's San Francisco feels vibrant and alive: this is a city full of life that reacts to you as you play.

Defense Grid 2 review

The basis of any given tower defence game is the narrow premise of placing towers to defend against some encroaching... thing. Honestly, the rest is quite vague. I've seen some that are meant to emulate doodles on a desk, and the invaders are office supplies.

Watch Dogs 2 review

Watch Dogs 2 is an excellent sequel that ditches the earnestness of its predecessor, pumps up the power fantasy, and turns players loose in a vibrant and engaging city. It's one of the best open world games to come around in a while.

Hacking abilities and drone warfare are the backbone of some truly tasty gameplay; There's an insane amount of stuff to do; The game world is a vibrant metropolis ripe for mischief

Long loading times are a bore; The multiplayer is more miss than hit

Watch Dogs 2 review – GTA got hacked

It's still lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, but this is a definite improvement on the first game and a serious alternative to GTA V.

The movement, shooting, and driving mechanics are all very good, and amongst the best in the genre; Interesting use of the hacktivist theme and some innovative online options

The story and characters still lack of charisma, and the open world isn't as interesting as a purely fictional one; Some formulaic mission design and inconsistent AI

Watch Dogs 2 review

Watch Dogs 2 completely washes away the bad taste of the first game. The characters are likeable and fun, and it’s a world full of brilliant distractions that you can’t stop yourself from taking part in. Although the plot does wrap up a little quickly towards the end, and the main villain flatters to deceive a little too much, the hacking makes you feel like a complete badass, and the only negatives are minor. Fingers crossed Ubisoft can get a patch out ASAP and sort out the performance issues - you can work around them right now, but it would be better if they were resolved with an update. Regardless, this is a superb open world game that, thanks to the hacking, breathes new life into a genre that was desperately in need of it. Buy the Watch Dogs 2 game here from Amazon

Hacking feels amazing; The world is alive; Stealth is so rewarding; Feels so fresh to play;

Frame rate is inconsistent; Checkpoints can be unforgiving; Story wraps up a little quickly;

Watch Dogs 2 [PS4] review: a better breed of game

Watch Dogs 2 is a great offering from Ubisoft, being a much-needed improvement over their first game. It's a title I'd pick up at the retail price and so should you.
