Wacom Cintiq 13HD Review

Wacom is the near-unchallenged king of the graphics tablet. It offers everything from affordable tablets for budding bedroom scribblers to tools for the pros. The new Wacom Cintiq 13HD sits somewhere in the middle ground.

Wacom Cintiq 13HD review: Great drawing experience and brilliant screen

We were excited to review the new Wacom Cintiq 13HD drawing tablet, as with previous Cintiq models, you can draw directly on its built-in LCD screen with a digitiser pen. This new model, an upgrade of the Cintiq 12WX, joins Wacom's current Cintiq 22HD, Cintiq 24HD, and Cintiq 24HD touch lineup of...
Pros:
  • Great drawing experience
  • Many ways to hold it and stand it on your desk
  • Brilliant screen.
Cons:
  • Screen is a little bit too small for long-term use
  • A Wacom-tablet that may be better may be around the corner.

Wacom Cintiq 13HD Review

The newest member of Wacom's high-end graphics tablet family is an upgrade to the previous 12WX model, and fills the gap between the high-end and high-priced Cintiq 22HD at £1,899 (AU$2,365, US$1,999) and the Intuos 5 at £430 (AU$550, US$425) for the L model).

Wacom Cintiq 13HD review: a space-saving pen display for designers

While the tablet form factor has a number of upsides for those looking to dive into the pen-enabled display pool, the Cintiq 13HD leaves us wanting more. Generally speaking, the performance is right up there with what we'd expect from a Wacom display (and definitely a welcome replacement for the...
Pros:
  • Comfortable form factor
  • Stellar pen input and ExpressKeys
  • Good display quality
Cons:
  • No wireless option
  • Lack of touch gestures
  • Stand has restrictive angles

It works fine

I work as an digital artist doing paintings and more flat style work. This product is my first Cintiq and I do not regret it one bit. Be sure to buy a smudge guard glove to go with this!
Pros:
  • Very crisp images
  • No issues with the cable and I was worried about that as I've heard some people have issues with it
Cons:
  • Rocker ring sucks
  • The scroll wheel/touch strip on other Wacom products is vastly superior
  • Changing my brush size is a bit of a hassle now
  • But, I knew this when purchasing it and it's definitely not a deal breaker
  • Occasionally I notice a bit of a jitter on my brush, very minimal.

Review: Cintiq 13HD is a lovely small-screen addition to your workspace

At $999, the Cintiq 13HD is a wonderful small-screen tablet display and an easy purchase. It has the same great display and excellent pressure-sensitivity controls as its larger siblings at a fraction of the price, while maintaining solid build quality.
Pros:
  • Great entry-level price for budding professionals
  • Excellent
  • crisp HD display
  • Wacom's patented pressure-sensitive technology
  • Same great HUD as the Intuos5
Cons:
  • Only Cintiq model that doesn't offer a Multi-Touch version
  • Some Mac users will need an HDMI -> Thunderbolt adapter
