Ultimate Ears UE Megaboom Review

Portable speakers let us enjoy our music wirelessly at home and on the go. And with the smaller, more powerful and longer lasting models offered recently, it's no wonder everyone wants one.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom Review

If you're willing to pay for the latest and greatest, the Megaboom is an impressive follow-up.

Clear and powerful sound; Excellent bass response; Great balance; Everything-proof; Excellent battery life and feature set

Expensive; Doesn't quite match the detail of premium portables

The UE Megaboom improves on the original in almost every way but at the sacrifice of portability and price. It can still be thrown into a big bag, and it's well worth a look if you're after a booming speaker with top notch sound, a focus on bass and a huge battery life - it can easily power any of...

The original UE Boom was one of the most impressive Bluetooth speakers we've seen, combining portability with huge sound, and now its bigger brother, the Megaboom, has landed; It's even louder but is almost twice the size.

Logitech hasn't strayed too far away from a winning formula with its latest Megaboom, and there's not too much to complain about; The price tag is our biggest complaint though, and at £249.99, the Megaboom towers over many of its peers for cost alone, not least its £170 sibling.

UE MEGABOOM portable bluetooth speaker review

KitGuru Says: I am a big fan of the MEGABOOM. It looks great, delivers a punchy sound and feels like it could take a beating before giving up the ghost. It is expensive, but perfect for those that want high quality portable sound.

Unique look; Powerful sound; impressive bass; Waterproof; great range; Application allows remote on; alarm and EQ functions; Battery lasts 20 hours and charges within two

Pricey; especially in the UK; Bass drops out at maximum volume; Smart on/off function does not always work

Featured Review: Ultimate Ears MegaBoom Bluetooth Speaker

In the past, we've reviewed the UE Boom speakers. There's the Boom and Mini Boom, both of which are fantastic speakers. Now we've got our hands on the MegaBoom Speaker. Which is a much bigger speaker compared to the Boom, and it has more battery life, more sound, and more everything basically.

UE Megaboom Bluetooth speaker review

The UE Megaboom looks to be Logitech's way of starting the year with a bang, as its latest speaker is a supersized version of the already-loud original UE Boom , yet promises to be even beefier. At £249.99 it's a fair bit pricier too - and is bigger always better? We fired one up to find out.

Ultimate Ears UE Megaboom Review

Ultimate Ears' UE Boom  was an excellent $200 Bluetooth speaker, and even two years after its release, it's still a solid choice if you want a rugged, portable way to share your music wirelessly. Now Ultimate Ears offers a bigger version of the Boom. The UE Megaboom is beefier, more powerful, and louder than the UE Boom, and at $299.99 it's also $100 more expensive. It's a very good portable speaker if you want to blast sound through a room without any wires, but it struggles with deep bass at top volumes. If you can spend $50 more, the Editors' Choice Bowers & Wilkins T7 ($500.00 at Amazon)  offers superior audio performance, but the Megaboom is a solid choice for the price. Just don't try to blow it out with thumpy dance music. DesignThe Megaboom is a faithful upscaling of the UE Boom. It's a rugged rubber cylinder that measures a tall 8.9 inches and is 3.5 inches in diameter. It's available in black, electric blue, red, or purple, and is covered almost entirely on the curved s...

The Ultimate Ears UE Megaboom is the bigger, louder follow-up to the original UE Boom, and just like its predecessor offers a rugged design and strong audio performance for a portable Bluetooth speaker.

Powerful for its size; Solid audio quality across most of the range

Struggles with deep sub-bass

UE Megaboom hits CES 2015: Top indoor/outdoor portable Bluetooth speaker gets supersized (review)

What does UE do for encore after releasing one of the best portable Bluetooth speakers of the last two years? Go bigger, of course, with a larger model appropriately called the UE Megaboom.

The larger UE Megaboom improves on the already impressive sound quality of the Boom, with even louder sound and fuller bass; It's also waterproof, has upgraded Bluetooth range (and Bluetooth Smart) and excellent battery life

A bit pricey at $300; no carrying case included

Review: Logitech UE Boom Wireless Speaker

Introduction Bluetooth-enabled speakers have been gaining popularity in the last few years with the introduction of Bluetooth 4.0. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.0's low power consumption, it's become easier than ever to connect devices together for long periods of time.

Great!!!

Sometimes the lights would show it was charged but it did not charge or hold a charge. It has great sound and great battery life just be very cautious to make sure it is charging.
