Review: EA UFC 2 (Xbox One)

It is the fourth round of a UFC featherweight championship fight. My fighter, a former UFC lightweight champion who worked his way to the top after winning The Ultimate Fighter in dominant fashion, is in big trouble.

Tight controls; Beautiful; realistic graphics; Interesting Ultimate Team Mode

Steep learning curve for new players; Event Mode needs more fine tuning

EA Sports UFC 2 review (XB1)

After managing a respectable-yet-flawed debut in 2014, EA has taken a second stab at crafting a licensed UFC game. The sophomore effort builds on the strengths of its predecessor to produce a much deeper and more satisfying experience.

Xbox One Review: EA Sports UFC 2

UFC 2 may be the best MMA fighter I have played, even if doesn't mix things up as much as some might hope. I love being able to pit Mike Tyson against Bruce Lee in the octagon and what's best is that UFC 2 is easy to pick up and play, which makes it more accessible to newcomers and veterans alike.

Earning Its Place At The Top

Concept: Build on what EA Sports' first UFC game did well by adding depth to gameplay and modes Graphics: The UFC fighters are detailed and their strikes look good in full speed and slow motion Sound: UFC's Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg provide authentic color commentary, but repeated lines often take...

EA UFC was a great game, but it lacked substance. The meat was fine, but it had no potatoes. The other problem with the game was that while the presentation was great, it suffered from a ridiculous ground game system and lack of other game modes.

Once I got over that awkward moment after realising that the two superstars that grace the cover of UFC 2 only recently lost their last fights, the irony couldn't be more obvious. UFC 2 is a great attempt by EA to recreate the action that is depicted in the octagon, and for most parts it succeeds.

EA Sports UFC 2 review

What you're left with is an impressive package that represents both a marked improvement from its predecessor and a real treat for UFC fans - even if it may not capture everything that's great about the sport.

EA Sports UFC 2 review

His entrance music blaring, Matt jams in his mouthpiece and heads to the octagon to size up EA Sports UFC 2.

A wealth of moves and modes; Smart grappling mechanics; Ultimate Team is excellent; Joe Rogan cheat code

Feels a little sluggish, and a bit lifeless; Brutally steep learning curve; Some training mini-games are confounding
