Very disappointing game...

I want to start off by saying that the first two games were some of the best games I have ever played. Rise Of The Dark Spark however was a complete disappointment. The Campaign was lacking and repetitive, the Vehicle mode was clunky and harder to control than the previous, the Escalation mode was a...

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark Review

has a few bright spots; the co-op Escalation mode is enjoyable, and there are cool weapons befitting the bots. But the bland campaign is a slog with uneven difficulty, while vehicle transformations and combat are largely unsatisfying. Without nailing that, you've got a bad Transfomers game.

Escalation mode; Gun selection

Unexciting combat; Disappointing vehicles; Unsatisfying rewards

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

While far from the worst Transformers game, Rise of the Dark Spark's interesting ideas are eclipsed by bland action and frustrating design.

XP and challenge-based rewards are a fun way to progress; Escalation mode is still hugely enjoyable; Smashing Decepticons as Grimlock is fun

Flat pacing; Frustratingly uneven difficulty; Very little gameplay variation

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark (Xbox One) Review

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is kind of an oddity. On the one hand, it's built around more or less the same game engine that High Moon Studios has used to such great effect in the first two Transformers: Cybertron games (two favorites of mine).

Game Review: Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark [PC/PS3/PS4/XB360/XB1]

The Autobot's are once again fighting against the Decepticons, to not only save their own existence, but also the whole universe (no pressure then). The Autobots will stop at nothing to prevent an ancient Cybertronian artefact known as the Dark Spark which has unimaginable powers falling into the...

Peter Cullen once again lends his voice as Optimus Prime; Escalation provides some tension that the campaign can't provide; Good variety of weapons

Seems a backward step to Fall of Cybertron; Muggy; brown last gen like visuals; Interest in storyline was quickly lost; Levels soon become repetitive; Needed More Megatron & Grimlock; End boss battle is woeful; Competitive multiplayer has been removed; Clearly an unfinished product

Like playing a ps2 game.

Thought for a tenner I'd take a chance and hope for the best, should of saved my tenner. I'll keep it short and sweet, firstly the graphics are nothing short of horrendous, the controls are awful, I mean trying to run with the D pad is fine but the fact when you push the D pad the robot transforms...

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark review

It's hardly one of the great mysteries of our age, but I'll never understand why Call of Duty is often explicitly called out for its bombastic Michael Bay tendencies, yet the official games of Michael Bay's Transformers movies are so tame in comparison, despite coming from the same publisher.
