Toshiba Portege X20W-D

Toshiba gave all its attention to making business PCs after getting out of the shrinking consumer PC market in 2016. If the company's premium Portege X20W-D is an indication of where it's headed, the singular focus might pay off.

The Toshiba Portege X20W-D is a stylish business ultraportable 2-in-1 that's small enough and light enough to easily use as an everyday-carry laptop and tablet; Battery life and performance are solid for office tasks, presentations and light photo editing.

The keyboard is a bit cramped and shallow and the touchpad is relatively small, too; It has just two ports and no SD card slot; No storage on the laptop for the included stylus

Toshiba may have retreated from the consumer market in recent years, but it isn't out of the laptop game completely. The company has focused on making excellent business laptops, and the 12-inch Toshiba Portege X20W is the latest system to benefit from the company's expertise.

I've had it only a day but am very pleased with the weight (or lack of it) and the battery life (around 10 hours - perfectly fine for my needs, as is the i7-7500; you may even get longer battery life).

Toshiba Portégé X20W-D-10V

It is difficult not to be amazed by the strides made by laptop manufacturers over the past few years when it comes to improving the general aesthetics and the size of notebooks. Indeed, this has happened to such an extent that Ultrabook-sized laptops have become the norm, making the term all but...

Superb finish and design; Multi-purpose power charger; Exceptional battery life; Decent computational performance

Toshiba Portege X20W-D

All told, the Toshiba Portege X20W-D joins the Dell Latitude 5289 and the HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 as worthy of a spot on your short list if you're seeking a 2-in-1 for business, and maybe a spot at the head of the list if you're interested in a unit that comes with a stylus for inking...

Slim, light, and compact; Attractive display; Stylus is standard; Ample battery life

Minimal port selection; Tricky touchpad
