Finicky but fun Minecraft-style game set in a 2D world.

Parents need to know that Terraria is a sandbox-style mining, crafting, and building game similar to Minecraft . There is a bit of mild monster combat that involves slaying one-eyed flyers, slimes, and shuffling zombies, but the focus here is on exploration, discovery, and creation.

Terraria

Terraria is a fantastic game of exploration and survival. You can occasionally feel lost in its open-world that lacks any real signposting, but the simple joy of digging and crafting means you'll keep playing to discover the naturally-occurring progress.

Digging for Monsters!

There's an expectation that Minecraft must come up in discussions about Terraria , and it's not entirely unfair. In the most literal sense, Terraria is a game that's centered around mining and crafting, so comparisons are inevitable.

Finally getting some power tools

How many times is that boss going to push me off the map

Xbox terraria

I have two 9 yr olds and they find the Xbox version very difficult to use. They played once when we bought it and have not used it since. They loved the iPad and computer version so this was disappointing.

Terraria is oftentimes referred to as the "2D Minecraft", and left at that. While this is true, it's also...so much more, and I feel this was why Minecraft radically changed it's game.

Terraria

"Part of the beauty of a game like this is that there really is no direction..." "...it's going to be awfully hard, even this early in the year, to find a downloadable game that can offer this much content."

Absolutely tons to do; Everything can be mined; chopped; and rebuilt; New content for PC expatriates

Early game is a drag; Occasional slow down; Crafting without a mouse

Review: Terraria (Xbox 360)

At long last, Terraria found its way from the PC and onto the Xbox and PSN respectively. First released onto the PC back in May 2011, this 2D side scrolling adventure game achieved critical acclaim amongst reviewers and users alike.
