Technics EAH-AZ70W true wireless earbuds review

A bit like Bang & Olufsen, Technics does lavish sound systems very well, but has now shrunk the tech down to deliver affordable personal audio. Aside from a charging case lacking a little bit of juice, the buds score highly in the noise-cancelling stakes, and even higher when it comes to sound quality. Yes, big drivers help, but it’s a winning combination of proprietrary internals working in tandem that do the business. There always seems to be a compromise with true wireless buds – whether it's bad design, bulkiness, imbalanced weight or iffy controls – but here the stars seem to align. Silencing everything but the music is a cinch... and the music sounds great.

Technics EAH-AZ70W Review

The EAH-AZ70W are an incredibly accomplished set of true-wireless earbuds with stellar audio quality and powerful ANC. But their large size will make getting a solid fit difficult for some buyers.

Decent audio quality ; Solid battery life ; Effective noise cancellation;

Very chunky;

Technics EAH-AZ70W true wireless headphones: Excellent sound, first-class noise-canceling

I can't remember the last time I reviewed a Technics product -- it's been that many years -- but the venerable audio brand, which Panasonic brought out of retirement in 2014, appears on the company's line-topping noise-canceling earbuds. The Technics EAH-AZ70W's list price of $250 (£220, AU$449) puts them squarely up against Apple's AirPods Pro ($250), Sony's WF-1000XM3 ($230) and Sennheiser's Momentum True Wireless 2 ($300). While they're a little large, they stack up well against that stiff competition, with impressive sound and noise-canceling function.

Panasonic's high-end true-wireless earbuds are a little big but they sound impressive.

Excellent sound and effective noise cancellation; Premium look and feel; Decent battery life for noise-canceling true wireless; Noise-canceling levels are adjustable in companion app; Touch controls are responsive (volume controls on earbuds); Transparency mode (lets ambient sound in); Works well for making calls;

Earbuds are a little large; It's pricey; No sidetone when making calls;

Technics EAH-AZ70W review: Noise-cancelling that's hard to beat

Technics' premium true wireless earphones offer fantastic noise cancelling, really dynamic sound, and at a price point that won't make you wince. If you want to enjoy your music in your own little bubble then these in-ears would make a wonderful choice.

Good noise-cancelling tech blocks out ambient sound; Great overall sound performance; Solid connectivity; Sensibly priced for premium in-ears;

Stick out of your ears quite far; Battery life isn't the best on the market; Touch controls are easy to activate accidentally;

too large and kept falling out of my ears :-(

i tried it . i really wanted to like it. but for the price i found the design wasn't good as too large and heavy so never stayed in my ears for long and couldn't be confident they would stay in which is essential especially in exercise . i tried all the different sized attachments but no joy for me. Maybe its just me.. also with full volume not as loud as my airpods. not sure why. i know the spec is good but i just didn't find them very practical or the sound quality outstanding as i had hoped with technics. and so am going to return them.

Great Technics product, but battery life could be better

The build quality is great and feels really solid. The casing is great and what you would expect from Technics I am not sure if it is just my ears, but they do not feel secure in my ears. i have in fact dropped them several times. I have tried several of the earbud covers, but in fact used some from another manufacturer that I had spare to get a better fit for me. The sound quality is great as it gives a faithful reproduction. I do not think these are for someone who love heavy bass, but personally, I love the dynamic range. My only gripe would be the battery life. It could do with being much better. The charging dock case is great, but if you are listening for an extended period, you will need to consider using one of the earbuds at a time to extend the total life. I love Technics, so would highly recommend.

Good but not amazing

Good build quality and noise cancelling is good and noticeable. Sounds quality is good but not amazing (especially considering the price). Annoying that only one device can be connected at a time - although up to 10 devices can be paired, you have to turn off bluetooth on the paired device for it to switch to a second device. I've had cheaper earbuds that can be connected to two devices simultaneously.
