As others have said, very very sharp, high contrast images, fast auto focus if a bit noisy , well built , i'd recommend a filter as you tend to forget how close your getting to the subject, 5 year warranty

Perfect for macro photography and portaiture. USD and VC features are great.
I purchased this product from a retailer. This lens has a amazing possibilities. Great portrait lens, Produce excellent results, In fact razor sharp images. Compared to Canon macro lens this is damn cheap too. This is the latest version of Tamron macro 90mm VC, A must have for Canon macro aspirants.
It is comparatively cheap on price, but great on performance. It gives super sharp images and is one of the best in this price range. It has a light body which makes it easy to handle. Definitely one which should be considered.
In a time when lens manufacturers, including Tamron, are pushing boundaries back, it is interesting to see Tamron introduce a new lens with the same name as the previous lens, requiring the model number to be included in references for differentiation.
Beautiful blur.
Heard that more expensive glass makes a difference - in this case true.
Super crisp and clear images; Amazing macro lens, even with hand held situations
Somewhat noisy auto-focus(minor issue)
I picked up a Tamron 90mm Macro F 2.8 a week back and I was truly dissappointed to see the aperture change to F5.6 at close range. There is no manual way of controlling the aperture to keep it steady at F 2.8 as it is made to seem in th specs.
1.Good sharpness; 2.Good flash reproduction; 3.Good pricing
1.No F2.8 aperture control trhough the focus range; 2; No VR or IS in the lens
These were the pre-purchase reasons I personally decided to buy this lens: · I wanted a lens with good close focusing ability. · It was well priced when compared with the Sigma AF 105mm F2.8 EX Macro, around 1/3 cheaper.
F2.8; 1:1 Macro; Protrait suitability
Lens extends when focusing; Fousing ring does not disengage AF on Pentax *istD until you switch AF off on body
I owned the previous non-VC version of this lens (272e) and was always happy with its macro optical qualities. However, I didn't care for the external focusing, I hated the push-pull AF-ON/AF-OFF mechanism, and there were times when I would have liked VC for short telephoto shots, so I sold it...
