Sharpness, good bokeh, poor build quality, a ridiculous hassle to register for warranty.
This lens takes extremely sharp images and does what it is made to do. However the build quality of the lens is substandard compared to a consumer grade Nikon lens. The warranty process for their 6 year warranty is ridiculous.
Nice Macro but old model
I bought this lens in order to start exploring macro photography, after reading reviews in Camera Shopper, which were very favourable. On going onto the Wex website, I filtered for Tamron lenses and Prime Macro, and turned up this lens, which is model 272EE, and doesn't have Optical Stabilization...- Good close-ups
- Blurry Focus
- No Optical Stabilization
- Slow Focus
A beautiful lens
I guess everyone else has reviewed this lens for its macro and close-up capabilities and I would simply add my own thumbs-up in that department - this lens does what a good macro lens should do and it does it excellently.
Fabulous lens. Great deal.
This is a great lens for macro work and also portraiture if you're into that. Love the focus range limiter. And it's super light weight. Great addition to my camera bag.
Great Macro Lens, no autofocus on EA-LA3 adapter
Very solid macro lens with good sharpness and easy to use focus controls. This lens works perfectly on a Sony a77m2 with good autofocus control. There was another review on B&H where the reviewer was using it on a Sony E mount using the EA-LA3 adapter.
The sharpness and clarity of the macro shots as well as normal shots are excellent. Thanks to Sony for building image stabilisat
I tried this on my Sony alpha 58. This has been with me for two weeks now. The sharpness and clarity of the macro shots as well as normal shots are excellent. Thanks to Sony for building image stabilisation in camera which makes a lower cost non VC lens very effective.
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 SP AF
It is extremely disappointing that the AF is so badly off because if my copy wasn't so miscalculated it would be a great lens. Once AF fine tune is maxed out on my D7100, the lens is good. I initially bought the non-Di version and had a lot of trouble with it, so returned that copy.- With AF fine tuning maxed out it is very sharp for portraits
- Excellent macro results if focused manually
- Focus completely off and only corrected with maximum AF fine-tune
- Not usable on my older DSLRs
- Concerns dismissed by Ebay seller and Tamron support
- Not economical to fix so must use as is
Love this lens, totally worth it!
I am just a photo newbie but I love this lens! Super easy to use and takes great shots. I use it for pictures of my family, clients and pets. The detail is awesome and what clarity! The only thing I don't care for that it seems to take a few seconds longer than normal to focus....- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
- Strong Construction
- Slow Focus
I recommend this product!
Overall a great lens for macro photography. Works absolutely fine with my Nikon D5100. I have noticed slow auto-focus and it also generates noise while focusing on the subject.
Tamron SP AF 90mm F/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 Model 272E Lens
Since 1979, Tamron has produced 90mm macro lenses whose optical quality has rivaled the extraordinary Micro-Nikkors. Some photographers claim to have preferred the Tamron over the Nikkor because of its superior handling of out-of-focus areas ("Bokeh").
