Loved this lens til I got actual canon lens

I bought actual canon lenses in other focal lengths now I am looking to replace this. There is no comparison. You do get some good images with this but not nearly as high quality. It has worked well for me for a few years. When you zoom in all the way does not focus well and extremely "soft" images.

Tamron 24-75 f2

Highly recommend this lens. for the price it takes great pictures and I think the build Quality is great for the Price. Just do it you wont regret it.
Pros:
  • Price is the Pro
  • This lens does a great job
  • You cant go wrong buying this len and adding to your collection
  • The 24-75 is great for wide and close up shoots,, like Parties and Weddings
  • the 2.8f stop allows you to tailor your cameras ISO to allow a blur free shoot in low lite.
Cons:
  • Wished it shot wider than 24mm
  • 18mm would have been nice
  • Sometimes if you are not careful at what you are doing you may end up with a blown out picture because of the 2.8f stop
  • remember 2.8 will give you a background that is blurred so be careful to increase f stop if you want to capture a group...

90% of Canon 24-70 f/2.8 for 1/4 price

I have both this Tamron lens + my wife insisted on buying latest and greatest Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens. I tested both lenses and my not very professional conclusion is: 1) their sharpness is absolutely the same except 2.8 where Canon is a bit better 2) Tamron is lighter and more compact...

Nice lens, although autofocus could be faster!

I use it on my d800. You can get nice results with f2.8, although it does back focus or soft focus sometimes, especially if you shoot few frames in a row or in a low light conditions.

So glad I made this purchase

Was torn between this or a prime lens in the 70mm range for portrait work. Chose this for the versatility of the zoom and the previous reviews that touted the sharpness of lens. It didn't disappoint. This is the sharpest lens in my arsenal.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
  • Razor Sharp
  • Rugged
  • Strong Construction
  • Versatile
Cons:
  • Hunts in low light
  • Slow Focus

Tamron's 28-75mm is a keeper

Great for just walk arround photography. I use it primarily for portrait and green screen photo's. It works on both DX and FX camera's. So should be no problem with a D7000. An overall excellent lens.

Ok lens if you're willing to settle for mediocrity

I expected better image quality from this lens. To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. I own other Tamron lenses that far exceed the optical qualities of this lens.

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical IF SP AF review by dugong5pm

a budget alternative for the pricey 24-70. great for film or fullframe users. It produces sharp images. Build quality is ok, and relatively light (compared to the "real" 24-70). It uses non-standard 72mm filters (I prefer the pro-77 size, but hey they cut the weight out of it).
Pros:
  • sharp
  • nice build
  • (relatively) light
  • price
Cons:
  • 72mm filter
  • harsh bokeh
