I spent countless hours researching for a good macro lens and basically had it narrowed down to the Sigma 70mm, Tamron 90mm and 180mm. I read complaints about how close you have to get with the 70 or 90mm lenses and decided that any extra distance I could place between myself and shy animals and...
Pros:
  • Excellent IQ

Tamron SP AF 180mm f/3.5 Di LD (IF) Macro Review

Extra distance was invaluable

I combined this superb lens with a new Sony A65 (also reviewed recently) at a recent shoot. The subject was 'Harvest Mice' and I was 'shooting' the delightful little devils in company with two other enthusiasts in shoot leader's garden shed.

Love it...!

Been wanting this lens for years, very glad I finally bought one. Great images, super sharp. Auto focus IS slow and it hunts most of the time but I knew this about this lens before buying. It is a Macro after all and this is kind of normal for this kind of lens.
