Unlike the somewhat basic affair that is the Tamron AF 70-300mm Macro , the new Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD has all the latest bells and whistles, or at least their high-tech, optical equivalents.

Fabulous lens. From beginner to advance this lens should be in everyone's camera bag!!! This lens is on my camera all the time. The zoom is great, and for everyday photos this lens is for all occasions.

VALUE FOR MONEY TELEPHOTO LENS
This is a highly recommended lens for a TELEPHOTO user under a budget .I really like its results and its VR is quite impressive. TAMRON has built a QUALITY PRODUCT !!!

Good Value
Have had this lens about a month and overall I'm quite satisfied. Images are sharp as a tack through all zoom ranges (may drop off slightly at max but not objectionable). Image stabilization is excellent and is better than I expected. Overall operation is smooth and quiet.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons:
- Heavy

I have three lenses in this range, the Canon 70-200 f4 IS, the Canon 70-300IS and this.The Canon non-L lens and Tamron are more or less identical for sharpness with a tiny victory for the Canon, although it's more expensive.
Pros:
- Very good value, lens barrel nice and wide for easy gripping, good stabilisation, although does jar in the viewfinder when it comes on, fairly sharp at 70-200mm
- Good warranty
Cons:
- Average to poor sharpness between 200-300mm, turns the opposite way from Canon lenses
- Makes an odd click/crunch on mounting
- I wouldn't want to get it wet

Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD SP AF
A surprising good lens, did read many reviews in order to choose between nikon 70-300 and this one , in the end the Tamron was best in most of the reviews. So bought one. (nikon was $ 713 that's $ 300 more !

bang for the buck
i have been using this lens for almost 6 months and i must say that it is by far the best telephoto i have handled. it has amazing image quality, quick focus using the USD motor, amazing hand holdability due to VR and still is comparatively lighter when mounted.
