REVIEW: Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD Review

Tamron have offered a 28-300mm super-zoom lens of one kind or another for 35mm full frame cameras for quite some time now. This lens is the latest refinement, which sports optical vibration compensation, a silent piezo-electric focusing motor and a splash-proof construction.

Lens Review: Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD

Tamron is a pioneer in all-in-one, do-everything lenses. Their new 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di PZD lens is designed for Canon, Nikon and Sony shooters and I tested the Canon EF version using an EOS 5D Mark I and an EOS 50D, which changes the lens' angle-of-view to that of a 45-480mm lens.

Great for Travel

Considered buying a travel camera because I didn't want to lug around a 24-70 and a 70-200 but decided to remove the battery grip from my D750, leave my speed light at home and take this lens instead. Does it even begin to replace the quality of the two big heavy lenses Of course not.

Really Nice Lens

I have the 28-300 Canon L. I am a amateur so build quality is not of huge importance even though the tamrons is good.Image quality is very close to the same as far as I can tell. Weight and size are a huge advantage.

Cost; Ergonomics; Image Quality Super Zoom; Iq As Good As My 24-105l; Size; Weight

Excellent lens

A sharp, well built lens; much better than the one it replaces. I use this lens on a Canon 6D and I am extremely happy with its performance.

Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD (Model A010) review by mu55ster

After realizing that i was constantly shooting my 24-105L at f8 or f11, and at the same time leaving my 100-300 f5.6L in the car rather than taking it up to the 24th floor apartment where it would have been good to have for some quick snaps I decided to look into the dreaded field of superzooms.

Small; Light; Better than expected

would it have been better if it was just alittle bigger

Noise/Distortion in RAW images

When uploading and reviewing the RAW images versus the JPEG, the raw images all have strange horizontal and vertical lines. I've tried changing SD cards and updating firmware on my camera but nothing improves the problem I am facing.

Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD Review

Consistent sharpness across the frame; Convenient 10.7x zoom range; Effective VC system; Good build and splash proof construction; Reasonably compact and lightweight; Piezoelectric focusing motor

Not much different in price between this and Nikon marque lens
