Bought this lens because I didn't wanted to keep changing my lens every now and then. The lens works decently at all focal length ranges and becomes especially handy when travelling somewhere. This lens is capable of taking macro shots but the amount of noise increases as higher ISOs.

Better than I expected

I have only used it once so far at a cross country off road motorcycle race and it performed better than expected. I bought this to replace my first version 18-200 Nikon. I wasn't expecting it to focus as fast as the Nikon (expecting to miss a lot of shots), but it wasn't far off.

Great image quality Faster than expected

Not as fast as focusing as Nikon (but not slow)

Nice lens at very reasonable price

I have replaced Nikon 18-105mm and 70-300mm lens with this one. So far I am getting amazing result. The lens is quite durable and robust. Usage is quite smooth though initial few days the rings were bit tight, I think which is normal. Highly recommended.

Ideal for Travel

This lens will replace your 18-55 and 55-200mm making your travel kit smaller. It is an APS-C (Crop-sensor) lens that gives you an effective zoom of 24mm - 450mm making it a very versatile lens.

Of the numerous incarnations of Tamron's famous superzoom concept that we've seen over the last couple of decades, the latest 16-300mm F3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro looks like one of the bigger steps forward.

Tremendous all-in-one versatility; Class leading 18.8x zoom ratio; 24mm equivalent wide-angle; Sharp at shorter focal lengths; Swift and quiet PZD autofocus; Effective VC image stabilization; Handy close focusing capability; Improved; weather-resistant build; Compact and light; considering the focal...

Reduced sharpness at longer focal lengths; especially at the edges; Slow maximum apertures; Autofocus less reliable towards long end of the zoom; Plentiful chromatic aberration; prodigious at 200-300mm; Strong distortion throughout; both barrel and pincushion; 'Focus breathing' reduces focal length...

Very Good if you avoid certain aperture/focal lengths

Before I start I must make the point that none of the images I have taken, when viewed at full width on a 1920x1080 monitor are by any means unacceptable. The quality does, however, deteriorate when viewed at 1:1 under certain conditions as I have tried to explain below.

Great Features; Lightweight; Simple Controls

Focus Shift; Soft Mid-range Zoom

For travel all-in-one it is not bad choise!

Universal, Fast drive, manual focus correction; Low dust vacuum :) Low sesor-dust displaying (even on F16), macro ability...

Strong, strange-shape geometrical abberation at wide angle; Strong vignetting at wide angle; No stabilization in Sony version..; Large and unpredictable glare when shooting against the sun or strong light..; Shift focus when zoomnig; I.e; you must focus, zoom, and refocus again//

Better lens than I expected

Nice lens. Seems well put together. NO LENS CREEP. That is a big plus. Is the lens perfect No. There's a little chromatic aberration, but that is fixable in software. Most of the issues are on the long end of the zoom. It's still a good, convenient lens with an impressive range. For me ...

I'm surprised nobody has posted a review of this lens after more than 12 months of being listed, so I thought I'd go first. I purchased this lens, after reading many reviews and looking and hundreds of sample images, to replace my Tamron 18-270mm VC (which was a very disappointing lens in my...

Good performance for a lens of this massive zoom range

Quality control a bit questionable
