Swarovski SLC 10x42 W B

The history of roof prisms binoculars from the SLC series, produced by the Austrian Swarovski Optik company, is really long. The first SLC 8x30 model was launched already in 1989. At some point those instruments constituted actually the top-of-the-range line of that producer in its heyday consisting...

light; compact; very solid housing; very good transmission; good correction of chromatic aberration; negligible astigmatism; slight coma; sharp image in almost all field of view; imperceptible brightness loss on the edge of the field; tubes with excellently blackened interiors; good quality prisms...

a bit too much rubber armour on the housing; minimum focusing distance of 3 metres

Its called Swarovski. The whole presentation is fabulous. They are crisp, bright, and detailed. They fit your hand like a glove, and are just plain great. I shopped for months and the EL's are very nice and a little lighter, but not neccessary.

Best optical investment you will ever make; Your outdoor experience will be so much better

Slightly heavier than the EL by 4 oz

The best binoculars... period!

This is my binocular of choice -- bought from Ace Optics in Bath, not from Amazon, but thought I'd leave a review here. This is, quite simply one of the finest optical instruments you can buy, and I prefer the single hinge design to Swarovski's double-hinged EL body.
