I love sandbox games, or pretty much any game where I get the chance to create my very own content, so it goes without saying I was pretty thrilled when they announced the new Super Mario Maker 2.

Endless level design possibilities; Levels are short and entertaining in story mode; The two-player Co-op mode; The four-player multiplayer mode; The ability to download other people's level designs; The newbie-friendly tutorial

There's a limit to how big levels can be (vertically; Not worth playing your own levels since you know them by heart

Super Mario Maker 2 (for Nintendo Switch)

A simple Switch port of the Wii U version of Super Mario Maker would have been excellent, but this version goes further and offers plenty of room to grow. We'll miss the Amiibo costumes, and it's still disappointing that we can't go very deep into programming enemy behavior, but the game is still a...

Numerous fun tools, skins, and themes for creating Super Mario levels; Expanded online and multiplayer options; New single-player campaign mode

Can't play with friends online yet; No Amiibo costumes for Super Mario Bros; levels; Limited ability to affect enemy and object behaviors

Super Mario Maker 2 (Nintendo Switch) Review

If Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the celebration of all things Nintendo, Super Mario Maker 2 is the ultimate celebration of all things Mario! The original Wii U game expanded on what was possible in a Mario course, but the follow-up elevates the experience with true sequel status.

Super Mario Maker 2 review (SWITCH)

You're gonna need a better stylus. If you decide to build your own courses in Super Mario Maker 2 you will, at any rate. And the suite of convenient features that allows you to build your own Super Mario games is the title's primary selling point.

Super Mario Maker 2 - Nintendo Switch

I'm rating 5 stars because it works well, came fast and it's a beautifully done game. I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the price because that's the typical Nintendo Switch game from bigger names, especially Mario.

Can Mario continue his winning streak on the Switch

Rich editor; Heaps of content in singleplayer mode, Ridiculously awesome community levels will keep you busy forever

Can be a bit intimidating for newbies initially

Super Mario Maker felt perfect for the WiiU. The wonderfully creative side of Nintendo shone through in almost every aspect of the game and it suited the WiiU's set up in every way. Unfortunately, due to the WiiU's dismal sales, not very many people got to play it.

Tons of single-player content (100+ levels; Online multiplayer versus and co-op modes are wonderful; chaotic fun; Filtering online makes avoiding bad levels a little easier; Designing levels is a perfect background activity; Great new music and content (especially for original SMB; Level...

Designing in docked mode is cumbersome; Multiplayer online may be an issue in SA due to internet speeds; WiiU dual-screen interface a better fit

Ever since the release of the monumental Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1985, there has been an endless desire for more 2D Mario titles. As of late, Nintendo has been working on the Super Mario Maker series as a way to either appease the fans or to completely phase...
