I bought this game for my son but I also play it because I'm an 80's baby and I remember when Mario 1st came out and how much I loved the original games. This game does not disappoint! We have so much fun playing this game together!
I'll admit, the initial announcement of Super Mario 3D World had disappointed me. I was expecting maybe a Super Mario Galaxy 3 announcement, but instead got a follow-up to 2011's Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS. In hindsight, it was silly to complain though.
Mario has been around forever, and it's impressive to see how Nintendo can continue to create a great gaming experience after all these years. This game has some great ideas and some wonderful level design.
I bought this for my 3 sons, as they love all Super Mario games. As expected, it's a big hit and so long as they stay quiet and allow me to get chores done in the home, I highly recommend it.
This game is pure platforming fun. Something everyone from every skill level can enjoy. Tons of power ups, innovative levels, art direction.. perfect controls. It's everything you want out of a Mario game. This is the real deal an excellent buy for anyone with a wii u.
A strident burst of brass announced the hero's arrival in Super Mario Galaxy: a bold, triumphant fanfare to herald the return of the king. Mario landed with a gymnastic flourish, spreading his arms wide in a gesture of pure showmanship, as if to say "Ta-da! I'm back!"
Brimming with brilliant moments; Marvellous counter-co-op multiplayer; New standards of variety and invention; Latter stages will test even Mario veterans
GamePad functionality is somewhat trivial
The sense of fun that Nintendo is so masterful at capturing still beats at the heart of Super Mario 3D World. Mario's latest adventure is planted firmly between the New Super Mario Bros. series and the more conventionally 3D titles such as Super Mario 64 and Galaxy .
Great fun in multiplayer; Lots of new elements added; Cat suit is a great addition; Plenty to keep completitionists busy
'Save complete' message that you have to click off after every level; No online; Some new items underutilised
Super Mario 3D World may seem a tad simplistic from the beginning when compared to the epic Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's a feeling which is no doubt caused by the game being a successor to handheld title 3D Land rather than any of the console Super Mario games or a new offshoot for the series.
It's an absolute joy to play; and one of the most refined gameplay experiences available; Plenty of innovation with power-ups and platforming mechanics; leading to an incredible final level; Tons to do; with plenty of variety throughout; Visually and musically a step up from previous Super Mario...
…but not quite the advancement 3D Mario deserves right now; It's limited by its design as a co-operative game; A few framerate and camera issues hinder some of the fun
After decades of running and jumping, haven't we seen everything Super Mario has to offer? Nintendo's mascot's been at the forefront of platforming games since the era of the NES - surely he's run out of ideas by now? Not a chance.
Brilliant power-ups; Crazy multiplayer; Amazing level design
Ummm..; Errr..; Nope; it's pretty much perfect
