Game Review: Star Wars Battlefront II

I thought 2014's Battlefront was a fantastic game, and compared to most AAA first-person shooters, it was a lot more approachable for people who don't necessarily play a lot of competitive shooters. For most parts of it, it was as simple as point and shoot.

Approachable and Fun Multiplayer; Space Battles; A Good Amount of Content At Launch; Great Performances; Fantastic Visuals and Audio; Playing as Solo and Lando in Campaign

Confusing Progression System; Random Nature of Unlocks; Inconsequential Main Story; Lacking Mission Structure

Sumptuous Graphics, Good Voice Acting, Let Down By Greedy Approach

Whilst there is much to like about this game, it suffers from a fair selection of flaws - enough, perhaps to annoy more than entertain. Without hopefully giving too much away, the expansive outing starts with events just before the destruction of the Empire's second Death Star and takes us all the...

Star Wars Battlefront II Review – Battle in the Stars

EDITOR'S NOTE: This review contains words by James (Single Player) and Toby (Multiplayer). Toby flew to San Francisco for the multiplayer review event as a guest of EA. Star Wars Battlefront II's campaign takes place between Return of the Jedi and presumably ends at some point between The Force...

Better than I expected

Bought a few weeks ago, and so far exceeds what I expected as far as performance goes. Loses one star because it feels cheaper made than the original PS4 I had. For example the power and eject buttons seem a little flimsy and the Options button on the controller seems clunkier.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Star Wars is one of those epic franchises that has a devoted following for a good reason. Considering that the series has lasted longer than many gamers have been alive, you can't deny that this galaxy far far away has some serious staying power.

Beautifully rendered planets; Solid campaign; Plethora of multiplayer modes

Progression system weighs game down; Some poor enemy models; microtransaction issue still unresolved

Star Wars Battlefront II

Update : Never before has a game that we've reviewed lurched in so many different directions so soon after launch (in this case, not even a full launch). We pondered our score long and hard in the first instance, with the old loot system affecting the game, but in our opinion, not as much as some...

Much better than Battlefront 1

Really good graphics, has a proper campaign unlike battlefront 1 which is a great feature, online play is still good, new additions like more heroes. All in all, a very good game

Star Wars Battlefront II Review – Epic Galactic Combat Further Refined

The entire history of Star Wars games is an attempt to capture the magic in those iconic battle scenes. We've endlessly recreated the Death Star trench run and the battle of Hoth on every major game system in the pursuit of that magic. This is what makes Star Wars Battlefront II so incredible.

Looks and sounds deliciously Star Wars; The multiplayer modes are more streamlined; Battles are infused with a proper sense of scale

Loot box shadow still darkens the game; Teamwork can't always make the dream work; I really suck at flying starfighters

Star Wars Battlefront 2 hits all of the right notes in the heat of a pitched firefight. Blasters chirp, TIE Fighters scream, the orchestral accompaniment soars or crashes as the good guys or bad guys take the lead.
