Xbox One Review - 'Star Wars Battlefront II'

Buy Star Wars Battlefront II To say there's some pressure on Star Wars Battlefront II is an understatement. Barring any surprises, it is marked as the last triple-A multiplatform title for the year.

Game Review: Star Wars Battlefront II

I thought 2014's Battlefront was a fantastic game, and compared to most AAA first-person shooters, it was a lot more approachable for people who don't necessarily play a lot of competitive shooters. For most parts of it, it was as simple as point and shoot.

Approachable and Fun Multiplayer; Space Battles; A Good Amount of Content At Launch; Great Performances; Fantastic Visuals and Audio; Playing as Solo and Lando in Campaign

Confusing Progression System; Random Nature of Unlocks; Inconsequential Main Story; Lacking Mission Structure

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is one of the most enjoyable multiplayer games of 2017, especially if you like Star Wars. It's also more flawed than it should be. Battlefront 2 doesn't deserve to be wholly defined by loot boxes, but it's inescapable given the impact they have on some of the core modes.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Review - The Progression System Tries to Bring You Over to the Dark Side

It's been 2 years since EA's first Star Wars Battlefront and in that time they've promised across the board improvements to the criticisms to that title. More content, space battles and a single player campaign top out that list.

Star Wars Battlefront II review

Star Wars Battlefront II 's campaign is merely okay, and its multiplayer is hamstrung by an awful upgrade system. There's also the spectre of loot boxes hanging over it like a Lightsaber of Damocles. However, it looks and sounds amazing, and gameplay-wise delivers the goods.

Top notch audio and video presentation stunningly recreates the look and feel of, . Starfighter Assault mode is excellent; greatly improved controls and neat level design make for an awesome-moment generator.

Multiplayer upgrade system is diabolical, even leaving aside first in, now out pay-to-win aspect – overly complex, random, and confusing; It suuuuucks; Locking many of the franchise's most iconic characters away behind a long grind is a dick move.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 review

And it's there, and in numerous other places in what's a relatively broad package, that you reconnect with the sense of wonder that's at the heart of this series. Star Wars Battlefront 2, for all its faults, remains a game that can get to the kernel of what makes the series so beloved.

Such a joy.

I got to try this game out at a convention called egx and it was incredible, it's already looking much better than the first even though there isn't much difference between the two if that makes sense. If you enjoyed the first in any way then you should definitely check this game out.

Star Wars Battlefront II Review – Xbox One

I'll be honest, Star Wars Battlefront II wasn't a game that was on my radar in any meaningful way. I tend not to be a big multiplayer guy, and since that was the primary focus of the first game, I didn't really pay attention when part 2 was announced.

Positives + Gorgeous visuals; + Competent gameplay; + Interesting narrative filled with potential

Negatives - Forgettable missions; - Multiplayer often feels balanced towards paying customers as opposed to everyone; - Greed is gross; This is a $60 game asking you for more money

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Review – Born to Lose, Pay-to-Win

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is the sequel to 2015's Star Wars Battlefront and promises to be bigger and better than its predecessor. Of course, these games from EA DICE aren't to be confused with the original Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront II (mind the colon) from Pandemic Studios.

Gameplay is an improvement over Battlefront (2015); Vehicle and hero spawns are well implemented; A lot of variety in maps

Campaign fizzles out about midway through; Timers block you from earning too many credits in single-player; Could use more variety in multiplayer modes; Oddly; no character customization at all; Gameplay is an improvement over Battlefront (2015)
