Splatoon 2

Nintendo Switch games have tended to come in two forms. Either we get a ‘definitive' version of a Wii U title, with all the upgrades and new features to take advantage of the latest hardware. Or we get fully fledged sequels and brand-new IPs.

Looks gorgeous both on Switch and TV screen; Multiplayer still a unique and fun offering; Plenty of new guns; each fun to use

Doesn't feel like a full sequel; Can be slow to get into a match

Review: Splatoon 2

Much like the original, multiplayer is where this game really takes centre stage[...] an incredibly simple concept becomes a madcap, fast paced, heart pounding paint fest as you strive until the very last minute to cover as much ground as you possibly can.

Immensely fun; Great single player and mini game; Easy to join in; hard to master; Updates due consistently; Local multiplayer

Issues not resolved from original; Possible options hidden behind Amiibo; More like version 1.5 than 2

Splatoon 2

The first Splatoon was a welcome blast of originality in the often risk-averse (and remaster-obsessed) world of video game development. A twist on the competitive third-person shooter, it added platform elements and - most interestingly - the ability to turn into a squid.

Splatoon 2 review

An improvement in nearly every way on one of Nintendo's finest games in years, Splatoon 2 is only let down by a lack of big new ideas.

Essential for Splatoon fun

This controller is the best thing I have gotten for my switch. Helps with Splatoon and other games and makes them easier to play for someone like me that plays xbox on a regular basis. The colours are fun too, Switch has to be the best console out there now.

Review: Splatoon 2

It seems obvious in hindsight: an online shooter where head-shotting your mates is totally irrelevant, why wouldn't it be a cult classic? On Wii U of all consoles. And yet here we are with a second Splatoon for Nintendo Switch just two years after the first game wrapped its inky tentacles around our...

Splatoon 2 review

Toby spills ink in and over Splatoon 2, the sequel to Nintendo's breakout hit of 2015.

Enjoyable, well-designed single-player mode; Multiplayer is absolutely fantastic; Gorgeous to play in both docked and handheld modes; Salmon Run is a welcome addition

No ability to create lobbies with friends pre-match, which shouldn't be an issue in 2017; Voice chat is relegated to an app that should be avoided in its current state

Splatoon 2

The original Splatoon was a hit on the Wii U, a console that otherwise had its fair share of struggles. It's with that in mind that, via the new Switch, Nintendo has decided to provide us with more in the form of a sequel, Splatoon 2.

The meat of Splatoon 2 is fantastic, while the menus and hub that surrounds it is confusing, it's clear that the gameplay reaches the high bar of a Nintendo developed title. The company still doesn't understand how the navigate the online world, to a frustrating degree, but with gameplay this good...

Great Art Design; Fun Gameplay; Awesome Single Player

Poor Menus; Confusing Hub
