The freshest and most stylish active Nintendo franchise has made its way onto the Nintendo Switch with Splatoon 2 . For those of you who played the first iteration on the Wii U or played during the various Testfire and Splatfest events, you know exactly what to expect from Splatoon 2.

Fast paced; fun gameplay; Solid single player mode; Smooth; vibrant visuals

Feels very similar to the original; Somewhat repetitive

Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.

By the end of every multiplayer match in Splatoon 2, I could feel my blood pumping with adrenaline. Even when being utterly suppressed by the enemy team, there's an exhilarating rush as you fire off every round possible, the entire arena soaked in bright ink.

Feels more like a minor upgrade than a sequel; Salmon Run lacks challenge; teamwork; Campaign is better than before; but not enough to sell the game on alone

At launch, Nintendo is adding voice chat through a smartphone app. Voice chat was conspicuously absent from the original game, and though I was unable to test it in Splatoon 2's pre-release environment, it's not a necessity for enjoying the multiplayer.

Splatoon 2 feels more like an upgraded, remastered version of Splatoon than a sequel. The single player campaign is different and the cooperative Salmon Run mode is new, but otherwise it's just a fresh paint job on the same game.

I loved the original Splatoon . Its lack of content hurt it at launch for me personally, but long term support turned it into one of my personal favorite games on the Wii U. I put it right next to the likes of Pikmin 3 and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze .
