Splatoon wasn’t broken, so Nintendo hasn’t done a lot to fix up its sequel. Even when it really could have done with better matchmaking features and voice chat. For new converts and anyone who wants to scratch that effervescent itch again, Splatoon 2’s tweaks do just about enough to make the whole experience fresh. It’s a bold, colourful game with big ideas and a relentlessly fun concept at its core. Even if you might be plenty familiar with it already. From cult classic to smash hit? Anything is possible with Nintendo’s Switch.

There's a lot to love in Nintendo's second iteration of its quirky shooter, especially the way emphasizes splatting the ground just as much as it does inking your opponents. The new additions to its single-player campaign and multiplayer modes are a step in the right direction, but it still has some...

Splatoon 2 may be more of the same, but that's no bad thing. It does add the new Salmon Run mode and League Battle, which are great additions and improves the overall performance and visual presentation.

I must admit, having seen gameplay of the original Splatoon that released on the Wii U back in 2015 and despite it gaining some very favourable reviews, it never really caught much of my attention. I'm not sure why that was exactly, was it to kiddie?

The original Splatoon was a hit on the Wii U, a console that otherwise had its fair share of struggles. It's with that in mind that, via the new Switch, Nintendo has decided to provide us with more in the form of a sequel, Splatoon 2.

Not the most radical of upgrades, but the Switch's success will bring Splatoon 2 to the major audience it deserves.
