Splatoon 2 is another of Nintendo's big game releases for the Nintendo Switch . It's the successor to Splatoon, which was released for the Wii U two years ago. Splatoon 2 is a primarily a third-person shooter that takes place in a fictional world where Inklings are the dominant species.

Signature Nintendo art; Fun gameplay; Wide range of weapons; Excellent game modes

Connectivity issues; Grinding; Voice chat is atrocious; Lots of poor design decisions

Splatoon 2 Review

A few extra bells and whistles keeps Splatoon 2 relevant and fun on its new platform, but Nintendo plays it a little too safe for hardened Splatters.

Splatoon 2

I tried so hard to like Splatoon 2. I drank the Kool-Aid, and listened to the fan-boys. There are just too many parts of Splatoon 2 that are obnoxious. First thing that happens when we get into this game is to listen to two female squid characters about the different online options and modes that...

Splatoon 2 review: More glorious sploshy platform-shooter cleverness

Not the most radical of upgrades, but the Switch's success will bring Splatoon 2 to the major audience it deserves.

Looks superb; Vastly improved single-player campaign; Has more credible e-sports credentials; Co-op Salmon Run mode is a delight

Not massively different to the original; Could possibly do with another multiplayer mode

The meat of Splatoon 2 is fantastic, while the menus and hub that surrounds it is confusing, it's clear that the gameplay reaches the high bar of a Nintendo developed title. The company still doesn't understand how the navigate the online world, to a frustrating degree, but with gameplay this good...

Great Art Design; Fun Gameplay; Awesome Single Player

Poor Menus; Confusing Hub

Splatoon 2 Review – Catch of the Day

Nintendo took a chance by introducing Splatoon when it originally debuted on the Wii U, and it worked out swimmingly. It made a splash with players in every demographic, and attracted fans with its colorful characters, addictive gameplay and competitive multiplayer.

Excellent multiplayer options; Plenty of gear to customize your squid; Salmon Run is addictive

Single-player lacking; Tags

Splatoon 2 Review

Splatoon 2's list of changes and additions from the last game might make it feel a little light, but the actual experience of the game is stronger than it first appears. Players can immediately get the feel of the game once again, but the small quality of life improvements will only be apparent to...

A great sequel to an already amazing game

The original Splatoon was one of my favourite games to play on the Wii U because of it's fast paced action, beautiful art style and music. However, I only started playing the game after the laft splatfest so I never really got to enjoy the game to it's fullest. So what do I think of this game

Watch out for game region!

I love this game and if I were reviewing its gameplay it'd get a solid 4/5 stars BUT instead I'm leaving a remark to warn buyers from Australia/NZ! This Amazon listing shows a UK version of the product. The region of your Switch game rarely matters, but this is one to watch out for!

Splatoon 2 on Nintendo Switch: a fishy remix, but still great fun

Massively expanded single player campaign; brilliant online multiplayer; co-op Salmon Run mode adds variety

Little evolution over original game; lobby between matches doesn't allow weapon changes
