Review: Splatoon 2

It seems obvious in hindsight: an online shooter where head-shotting your mates is totally irrelevant, why wouldn't it be a cult classic? On Wii U of all consoles. And yet here we are with a second Splatoon for Nintendo Switch just two years after the first game wrapped its inky tentacles around our...

Splatoon 2 Review – More Of The Same

With its release on the Wii U in 2015, Splatoon added the typical Nintendo flair to the existing third-person shooter genre and was a hit game on an underrated console. Now back, bigger and brighter, Splatoon 2 splashes its way onto the Nintendo Switch in style – boasting a better Story Mode, new...

Splatoon 2 review

Toby spills ink in and over Splatoon 2, the sequel to Nintendo's breakout hit of 2015.

Enjoyable, well-designed single-player mode; Multiplayer is absolutely fantastic; Gorgeous to play in both docked and handheld modes; Salmon Run is a welcome addition

No ability to create lobbies with friends pre-match, which shouldn't be an issue in 2017; Voice chat is relegated to an app that should be avoided in its current state

Splatoon was the perfect game on the wrong console. After years of fans pleading with Nintendo they brought a new IP to the Wii U, it's just that the audience never pitched up. Now they've brought all that addiction and fun to the Switch in the form of a sequel.

Salmon Run is great fun in co-op; A campaign that deserves to be played; Turf War - there's not much else there as competitive as it; Joining your friends online is easy

Finding online games can take a while (likely because of limited players at the moment; You'll miss having the Wii U Gamepad to check the map

Splatoon 2 Review: Even more splatastic the second time around

Splatoon's emphasis on fast-paced ink multiplayer gameplay has always been a staple in the series. The original game proved to be a huge hit for Nintendo , introducing a fresh new take on multiplayer while moving away from the traditional arena shooters we are so used to.

Splatoon 2 review: return of Nintendo's ink-spraying Squid Kids is a blast

S platoon 2 gets so much right that it's easy to ignore the occasional baffling ways in which Nintendo has failed to score into an open goal. Not least missing the chance to call the game "Spla2n".

A Fresh Coat Of Ink

At launch, Nintendo is adding voice chat through a smartphone app. Voice chat was conspicuously absent from the original game, and though I was unable to test it in Splatoon 2's pre-release environment, it's not a necessity for enjoying the multiplayer.

Splatoon 2

The original Splatoon was a hit on the Wii U, a console that otherwise had its fair share of struggles. It's with that in mind that, via the new Switch, Nintendo has decided to provide us with more in the form of a sequel, Splatoon 2.

We have an Inkling you'll like it

Splatoon 2 provides more of the addictive and inventive fun of the original, but doesn't quite do enough to earn the 2
