Sony Xperia S review
The Sony Xperia S is a beautiful high-end smartphone at a mid-range price and offers a neat break with the Sony Ericsson brand. Integration with Sony's cloud infrastructure makes perfect sense and both screen and camera are exemplary. The Smart Tag trick is a nice touch too.

Sony Xperia S review
The Sony Xperia S looks good and packs a decent set of hardware components, including an excellent screen and camera. Aside from the standard Android complaint of abysmal battery life, the phone is let down by its main control buttons – a triumph of art over function – and cluttered and out-of-date...

Sony Xperia S Lt26i
Sony has made it's mark when it comes to gadgets and pieces. They had for almost, forever proven the quality of products being produced, together with it's innovation over the years. Now, Sony is making it's way up to the mobile phone ladder through their world class, - high end smartphones.

Sony Xperia S
The Sony Xperia S has an undeniably gorgeous HD screen, high-quality audio, an impressive camera and plenty of clout. But it's let down by clunky handset design and software that could be more streamlined.
Cons:
- Needs an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich
- Clunky handset design
- No microSD card slot

Xperia S came with Android Gingerbread out of the box. It made me a little apprehensive due to the fact that competitors were out with Ice Cream Sandwich already. The S was not really native to Gingerbread.

Excellent phone
As an unexpected bonus, the wired headset that comes with the phone is excellent. The audio quality for voice and music blows away my cheapish Klipsch earbuds. To get the full 12 megapixels, the camera takes pictures in 4:3. If you want 16:9 photo ratios, the photos are 9 megapixel.
Pros:
- At the top of this list is the display
- This is easily the best display I have seen on any device
- It's bright, incredibly sharp and vibrant, and even performs very well in direct sunlight
- Speed is another plus
- Applications open immediately, they install or uninstall with absurd speed.
Cons:
- The function buttons on the bottom take a little bit to get used to - they are touch only, no physical operation
- Nice when you're used to them
- The JPG compression is a little more lossy than I would like, but it's so high resolution that it doesn't matter for most situations.

Sony developed an iconic look with the original Tablet S, which PC World reviewed early this year. At IFA this year, it returned with a revised design which, on the surface at least, tackled all the aspects that we...
