Sony's Solo Smartphone: Sharp Shooter, Sleepy Software
Sony has finally struck out on its own. The Sony Ericsson partnership is over - Sony bought out Ericsson's slice of the phone-making venture earlier this year - and the first Sony-branded phone is the Xperia Ion , a new Android handset exclusive to AT&T's 4G LTE network.
Pros:
- Sony delivers a flagship-worthy CPU, display and camera at a mid-range $100 price point
- Quality materials make the phone feel durable
- Nice touchscreen display.
Cons:
- Has all the personality of a Ford Taurus
- Outdated, clunky design
- It runs last year's operating system (Gingerbread? Really?

Sony Xperia Ion (AT&T) review: Elegant smartphone stumbles
Even the Xperia's 12-megapixel camera can't hold a candle to the imaging systems on those high-powered gadgets. A better choice is the Nokia Lumia 900, which for the same price has a more attractive design and better camera.
Pros:
- The affordable Sony Xperia Ion has solid call quality and swift 4G LTE that ties into Sony's vast entertainment empire
Cons:
- Lackluster images and video belie the Xperia's claimed 12MP camera
- It's also held back by an old processor and an outdated OS

Sony Xperia Ion
The Sony Xperia Ion is a sweet phone for a great price that's just not getting enough love. For $99 you get an award winning design with a sleek glass front and curved metal back, LTE 4G and a 12MP camera. And you thought the once $99 Nokia Lumia was a good deal? The Ion tops it for hardware specs.
Pros:
- Gorgeous display
- elegant looks with quality materials
Cons:
- Last generation CPU and ships with Android 2.3

Sony Xperia Ion is a decent smartphone, but having said that we must not forget that there are other phones available in the same segment at a lesser price. It's hard for us to recommend this smartphone in spite of its good performance and better battery life than its predecessors. At a price of Rs.
Pros:
- Build quality
- Battery life
Cons:
- Notification LED too small
- Average Camera Performance
- Price

Sony Xperia Ion (AT&T) review: Elegant smartphone stumbles
The $99.99 Sony Xperia Ion looks like a good Android deal but its weaknesses make it not worth even the budget price.
Cons:
- Lackluster images and video belie the Xperia's claimed 12MP camera
- It's also held back by an old processor and an outdated OS

I was happy with my ION being my first Android phone, but when I was able to hold a faster, much bigger phone, and with the battery issue, I switched to Samsung. If I hadn't discovered the Note, I wouldn't have changed to Samsung.

Lightweight
All products work absolutely fine, however they are very lightweight and will not take any heavy handling. Like I said, it all works... but usually you get what you pay for and this was inexpensive.
