Sony Xperia ion for AT&T review: US Xperiance
Sony was the talk of town during CES 2012 back in January and the Xperia ion for AT&T was among the main reasons why. Launched alongside the Xperia S, the Sony Xperia ion took the great honor of being the company's first LTE smartphone.
Pros:
- Quad-band GSM /GPRS/EDGE support, Tri-band 3G with 21Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, Category 3 LTE network connectivity, 4.6" 16M-color capacitive LED-backlit LCD touchscreen of 720p resolution (720 x 1280 pixels) with Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine
- Scratch-resistant glass, Dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion
Cons:
- Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread out of the box doesn't cut it for a high-end device this far into 2012
- Display has sub-par side viewing angles
- Underwhelming front touch buttons and side camera key
- Non-user replaceable battery

Sony Xperia ion review (video)
The Xperia ion, despite being a decent Android phone, does not live up to its potential. Either due to aging hardware or aged software, the combination puts it miles behind the reigning Galaxy S III and One X in terms of performance, battery life and overall usability.

Sony Mobile has sure taken its time to deliver the Sony Xperia ion. The 4.55-inch device was first unveiled with the Xperia S about seven months ago at CES 2012 but has only recently resurfaced during a huge local Southeast Asia (SEA) event in late-June where five other Xperia devices were unveiled...
Pros:
- Classy and sturdy chassis
- Comes with Android 4.0
- Overall positive camera performance
- Clean UI
Cons:
- Less than stellar handling experience
- Battery life can be better
- A tad expensive

- Runs older version of Android
- Poor phone call quality
- Too much non-HD video bloatware.

How does this smartphone stack up against the One X and Galaxy S III? The Ion's late arrival hasn't helped its case. The One X and the Galaxy S III have been in the market for a while now, and marketing and advertising blitzkriegs by their proprietors has ensured that they have been etched as...

Nice features
The various Google services preloaded on this phone are superb. They are useful in so many different things. And, the best part u r never stuck. The cameras have a good MP, they give a good clarity and details. Colors r nice. Zoom gives it all the details. No problems with the battery either.

- Excellent call quality
- 720p display is very crisp
- Very pocket able despite bigger display
- Classy and understated design elements
- Camera quality brilliant in good lighting
- Good battery life
- Android ICS out of the box
Cons:
- Dual core processor fighting the quad cores
- Brings us to the point of the perplexing price tag
- Display doesn't have colour punch of an AMOLED
