Sony WH-1000XM3

Sony promise more sound and less noise in these awesome WH-1000XM3 headphones!

Industry-leading noise cancellation that's even better

Sony have always been front runners in developing noise cancelling technology, but it seems they've outdone themselves in their WH-1000XM3 headphones. The noise cancellation technology in these headphones is described as "our most advanced ever", with close fitting ear pads and HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 combining to ensure that Sony stays ahead of the pack.

Smarter than before

Headphones can be smart, and in the case of the WH-1000XM3 model, they're super smart. Their advanced noise cancelling technology such as Adaptive Sound Control is a prime example, while other smart features include Quick Attention, which quickly turns down music, call sound, and ringtone to allow ambient sound to be heard easily, plus Voice Assistant compatibility and touch control.

Awesome audio

Noise cancellation is one thing...what about the sounds? LDAC, Sony's new wireless audio technology transmits about three times more data than conventional BLUETOOTH wireless audio. This means you can now enjoy audio content that approaches a dedicated wired connection.

NC is AOK

The dedicated NC processor in the WH-1000XM3 headphones ensures reproduction of your music is not compromised at any stage, even by processor performance.

Head in the clouds

Many of us use headphones while we're flying. Sony understands this so they've introduced Unique Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing to their WH-1000XM3 headphones. This delivers optimal sound at high altitude.

Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Headphones review

If there's anything surprising about the new Sony WH-1000XM3 it's that they're so consistent with what Sony has released in the last two years in the form of the Sony WH-1000XM2 and Sony MDR-1000X .

Outstanding noise cancellation; Fantastic sound quality; Quick Attention Mode; 30-hour battery life

Small tweaks from 1000XM2; Mediocre call quality

Absolutely amazing!

I decided to treat myself to some noise cancelling headphones. I do a fair bit of travelling on public transport and get irritated by background noise/chatter. I narrowed it down between the Bose QC35 and these Sony WH-1000XM3. When trying them out found that there wasn't much between them.

Sony announced a bunch of new products at its pre-IFA press conference, and among them was its latest flagship pair of headphones, the WH-1000XM3. This is an iterative update to the WH-1000XM2 , which happens to be one of the best pairs of active noise cancelling headphones in the market right now.

Sony WH-1000xM3 Review

Sony's WH-1000XM3 absolutely knock it out of the park. You can't buy a better pair of wireless, noise-canceling headphones.

Highly effective; customizable noise-canceling; Excellent sound quality; Best-in-class battery life; Clever; useful features; Handy headphone app

Can't connect to more than one device at a time

Sony WH-1000XM3 review

Jack of all trades and master of all; the Sony WH-1000XM3s are a superb all-round package Add all of the ingredients together – the increased comfort, improved noise-cancelling and serious audio ability – and you have as close to the perfect pair of noise-cancelling headphones as it's currently...

Natural; all-round sound quality; The best noise-cancelling out there; Supremely comfortable

Good enough to expose weaker recordings; Touch controls feel fiddly at first

No Other Headphones Will Do

I usually don't write reviews of any kind. And the only reason I'm submitting one now is because Crutchfield prompted me to do so. That said, I really like these headphones!! I've only been using them for about two weeks. The experience thus far has been excellent. Hence, the five star rating.

Sound Quality; It's incredibly contours to whatever you're listening; There's the right amount of bass, midsized, and highs

I'm not a fan of the type of black coating Sony chose; Matte black looks and feels better; By the way, hold onto these headphones securely at all times; They will most certainly slip out of your hands and fall to the ground thanks in part to the wonderful paint job I just commented on

Sony WH-1000XM3 review: Noise-cancelling supremo

At some point in the past five years, Bose took control of noise-cancelling in headphones, becoming the de facto brand you'd see when walking down the aisle of an aircraft. Sony , it seems, doesn't like this, and for the third year in a row has pushed out a version of the 1000X, looking to knock the...

Noise-cancelling performance is superb; Comfortable for long periods of wear; Lots of personalisation options via the app

Google Assistant doesn't really work; App can cause some confusion in mode selected; Recharging is slow

Great sound quality and noise cancelling

Spent a bit of time researching the best noise cancelling headphones and kept ending up at these. Was not disappointed, amazing sound quality and noise cancelling ability along with a very long battery life. Very nicely finished product with attention to small details that make all the difference.

Sony WH-1000XM3

For the last few years, Sony has been hot on the heels of rival Bose , working hard to create the ultimate noise-canceling headphone. And with the WH-1000XM3 -- priced at $350, £330 or $AU499 -- it's finally done it.

The excellent-sounding Sony WH-1000XM3 is more comfortable and 20 percent lighter than its predecessor; It offers slightly improved noise canceling and performs better as a headset for making calls; Battery life is strong, and it has some nifty extra features geared toward frequent travelers

Your ears can get a little warm inside the ear cups; I encountered some adaptive noise-canceling hiccups

Sony WH-1000XM3 Review: Stellar Noise-Cancelling, Unbeatable Sound

One of the best gets better, as the Sony WH-1000XM3 packs killer sound and noise cancellation into a slender design.

Class-leading sound; Stellar noise cancellation; Excellent battery life; Lighter; comfier design; Intuitive features and touch controls; Tons of sound-customizing settings via Sony Connect app

Aesthetics feel less premium than on previous model; Call quality could be better
