Best Headphones for PMP

I am using these headphones on the new Sony hi res Walkman. I tried every pair of headphones in the store that this device would run without a headphone amp. I had previously ran a pair of V Moda M100's. These had more lower bass response. I don't mean they were bassy or boomy.

... than any other brand comfort and sound quality are fantastic.

After trying some of the other top brands i find the Sony MDR-1A prestige overhead headphones to be much more to my tastes than any other brand comfort and sound quality are fantastic.

Sony MDR-1A

Sony MDR-1A review: A-class over-ear headphones

It was two years ago we were first introduced to the Sony MDR range, headed-up by the self-proclaimed "prestige" MDR-1R headphones. We had to hand it to Sony, though, despite sounding almost pompous they were very impressive over-ears, delivering quality in both the build and sound departments.

Really comfortable for long-term listening; great sound throughout the frequency range - from deep bass through snappy high-end; spatial soundscape delivers engaging listen

Loose fit won't suit smaller heads; can slip slightly during wear so driver positions won't engage high-end frequencies as well; simple carry case

Sony MDR-1A

The Sony MDR-1A are the updated version of the MDR-1R we reviewed a couple of years ago. They're over-ear, full-size headphones with more than a hint of sophisticated Sony design.

Sony MDR-1A

Sony's latest addition to the MDR lineup is a thoughtfully designed, exceedingly comfortable headphone pair made with luxurious materials. At $299.99, the MDR-1A isn't cheap, and given the lack of Bluetooth or noise-canceling circuitry, that price could only be reasonable if the audio performance...

Fantastic audio performance with deep lows and clear, well-defined highs; Sleek design with luxurious material; Extremely comfortable fit; Ships with two detachable cables, one with an inline remote and microphone for mobile devices

Quite expensive; Not for purists seeking a flat response sound signature

Sony MDR-1A

Sony's been one of the main driving forces behind hi-res audio, so you won't be surprised to find the MDR-1As sporting the hi-res logo.

Stylish appearance; Soft; comfortable earpads; Musical delivery; Excellent dynamics

Lack low-end control; Vocals sound insubstantial

Sony MDR-1A Stereo Headphones Review: Our Marathon Sound Trip Sessions Cans of Choice

In a nutshell, the Sony MDR-1A is ridiculously comfortable, beautifully designed, and delivers outstanding upper half register. It's not well suited for bassheads but if you're the type that loves listening to tracks that are not dominated with bass, this is worth every peso.
