It uses the bizarre "slot" mount, also called "AutoLock." Newer Sony DSLRs with regular hot shoes like the Sony A99 come with an adapter to use this flash.

Completely adequate for single card in a very short distance indoors. However, is it so tough to reload that I can not recommend it. Had to replace it luckily, the big brother hvl-F43AM which apart from size is quite sufficient.
